I did enjoy the weird disjunction when it finished and an interview with Abbas Kiorastami started - it was like the old days of mental-schedule C4.
I thought he was more Baby Brian Eno, koogs.

This Week Only, also featuring Lauren Laverne and Nick Frost, so not completely terrible (tho mostly).

What was that show called, Heavy Talk wasn't it? That nearly made me spit blood with it's badness.

("Stop, Hammer Toe" did make me laugh though)
i managed to tear myself away from the car crash that is FAQ-U and flicked over to 5 and caught about 2 minutes of The Farm, something i wouldn't normally stoop as low as. Ron Jeremy, in the bit i caught, sounded like a charming, intelligent human being not the Sid James-esque letcher i'd imagined. and Flavor Flav was talking to Orville the Duck as if he was real (Orville, not Flavor Flav).

say what you like about jimmy carr - and i have, repeatedly - but at least he has some talent. he's an established comedian who built a whole act around acerbic one-liners (not original, but still a decent trick), and has on occasion made me laugh loudly. when nobody knew who he was, his smugness was entertaining (and kinda ironic); the problem is his ubiquity. a smug cult is fine; a smug cunt isn't.
but god almighty, come back jimmy, all is forgiven. JLC is a throbbing phallus; an almighty gusher of spunk.

So, next week, is it going to be, like, "if you were on an airline seat and alsion moyet sat next to you(etc etc)" or "If a ravenous lion fell on your head, who would you rather have cushion the blow: 1. phil collins 2. shakin' stevens (etc etc)" I think this sounds like the only hope for this program

they've changed hosts. this week's host is the dark-haired one from Peep Show. he was on as a guest on friday night and the atmosphere was markedly different - lots more talking between the guests (whereas previously it used to be JLC asking one member of jury the question, an invariably unfunny answer, JLC pulls a face, rinse, repeat. question time is often funnier...) so let's see if this improves.
