ALLY C LONDON FAP SUNDAY 15TH MAY?

OK so I am in London this weekend on a flying visit. Friday night I am going to my friend's birthday party and Saturday night I am going to see the Go-Betweens, but I would quite like to have a pint or two with folks on Sunday if anyone would like to.

Actually if anyone's around during the day on Friday or Saturday send me an email or give me a call, I'll probably be doing something boring. Ta.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

too busy, sorry.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Dick.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, you could buy me a drink. I will be an old(er) man.

$V£N! (blueski), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I can manage that.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Were you planning on looking for an older man while here, Ally?

I don't think I can make it. I have tentative plans with my old friends, which I think are going to happen.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 13 May 2005 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

TOO SHORT NOTICE

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 13 May 2005 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

There's loads of us SE ILX cru going to Chichester for walk/pub/usual nonsense on Sunday - 10ish at Victoria station if you're up for it.

The rolling London walking thread [15th May, Chichester Harbour]

Come Back Johnny B (Johnney B), Friday, 13 May 2005 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Somewhere where we could sit and watch the Premiership relegation battle unfold would be nice.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 May 2005 06:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably around this weekend. If you want to eat baked garlicky Camembert in Highgate, give us a bell.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 13 May 2005 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

you bastard, we're in Chesterfield all weekend.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 13 May 2005 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I am seeing the Go Betweens on Saturday, aussi, so I will see you there. (I may have a spare guest list place if anyone wants it.)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 08:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not going to see the Go-Betweens on Saturday cos I saw them on Monday (they were grebt BTW) but I can offer home-made bread in addition to the baked Camembert.

robster (robster), Friday, 13 May 2005 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, let's go and watch Celtic take another step towards winning the League?

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 13 May 2005 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not take your fellow Foxglove with you, Jerry?

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 13 May 2005 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not take some random slapper, Jerry?

I would love to see Ally C, but I might be on the dandle, and I see so little of her during the week.

However, I would like to be kept abreast of arrangements.

I will be in the Princess Louise 6.30-ish tonight. It is someone's leaving do (isn't it always?), but I don't think it's off limits or nothing. I don't know if SteadyBoy will be coming.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

if you want to play tennis on saturday 1pm let me know.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 13 May 2005 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't. Oh, not me. OK.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

JtN, maybe you & whichever Happy Slapper you take with you might be interested in this from BBC 6 music:

"THE GO-BETWEENS IN SESSION ::
Hear two live tracks from The Go-Betweens in the 6 Music Hub, see
gallery pictures and find out about more sessions coming soon including:
Frank Black, The Magic Numbers and Saint Etienne:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/events/hub/ "

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 13 May 2005 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I had not seen the Happy Slapper thread. I just meant some ropey old tart selected at random from the streets.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Alix and I just rendez-voused for lunch with the Boy 96. He is currently en route to Tate Modern.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

What, Sunday lunch?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Pub lunch, in Kentish Town, just now. I am now feeling the effects of two pints of Spitfire.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, right.

How many pints did Lixi have?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

One (1) half of Orange Juice.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope she isn't feeling the effects of it too badly.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Tate Modern postponed until Monday due to the effects of two pints of Pride and further impending pub activities. I love it when the offers start to come in. Drinks later in Lowlander, Drury Lane, 5pm.

Tomorrow - tennis might be out with my bad knee (the other one, now), but cheers Ken. Looks like wandering round with NYCers is the order of the day.

Sunday - any pub suggestions?

I have no Dot to Dot badges left, so if anyone's just coming to get one, THINK AGAIN.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, stagger up to Princess Louise. We like you better than our workmates.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, as a matter of interest, how long are you staying?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Cor, Drury Lane is dead close. I might EFF OFF from work early and have a Babycham with you.

(xpost Alternatively, Princess Louise it.)

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I trust I can drink all of the milk you left in the fridge, then, ally.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I will EFF OFF from work late, but Steady Mike can say hello for me.

As long as you replace it for when he gets back, RJG.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark - going home on Monday if that's OK. What shall we do about keys etc? This is probably not the place to discuss these things, but uh.

I suppose P.L. is not far away. I may bob up. Those toilets! Alternatively, come down to Lowlander. We will work something out. I am all about whoring myself out to as many people as possible.

RJG, please drink milk and eat fried chicken and coleslaw. Ta.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is Lowlander on Drury Lane? Top or bottom? Above Long Acre or below?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Closest side to Holborn, I believe.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, have you come to London to sign a massive record deal for Dot to Dot?

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to duck out of work within the next hour so I'll see you in one or possibly all of these pubs shortly.

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he must have; he has taken his crayons with him.

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I have come down to be measured for my statue.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

one inch high

RJG (RJG), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, ally, no one is going to your FAP.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Wright, I am going to punch you in the ovaries in two weeks.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone on this thread know how to properly, like, deskin a mango? I bought one, for the first time ever, and I don't know what to do with it. It's just sitting here.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't you just peel it in a normal way? Or cut it in half and then cut pieces of flesh out. Or just stick it all down your big fat gob.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to your FAP, Ally!

(We'll get keys sorted out tonight, even if you get home v late, just call my mobile (the doorbell doesn't work) and I'll let you in. My plan for most of this weekend was to slob around my flat on my own, getting over vicious jetlag and doing the occasional light chore. So by all means, use the place as somewhere to sleep - I just don't think I'm up to being much of a host, but I'm sure others will entertain you while you're down)

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

MY GOB IS SLENDER, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHA YOU. Thanks, Mark.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

with the smaller golden-y orange ones, you can usually make a long slit the length of the fruit and then sort of massage the skin off in one big piece. with the bigger red-green ones, good luck. peel it over the sink, because they get messy.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

SORT YOURSELF OUT FOR SUNDAY DRINKING BEFORE 17:00 COOK OR THERE'LL BE HELL TO PAY. (some of us don't have interweb access at home and need to sort out our weekend social lives before hometime)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know! Other people do things. My credit is about to run out.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The Intrepid Fox it is then.

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Shall we go to the Angel on St Giles St on Sunday? 2pm?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone on this thread know how to properly, like, deskin a mango

I read this as "deskin'" - like "hotdeskin' a mango" or even "hotdeskin'-a-mango". You people are nuts.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I can think of no more pleasurable way of spending the weekend than watching Markelby perform the occasional light chore.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

In restaurants I have seen mangoes served like the second method on this page http://www.pccomix.com/cheapthrillscuisine/CTCtips/CTCMango/mango.html
, the bit that follows

"If you want to avoid peeling first, try this technique:"

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

And Delia has better pictures:

http://www.deliaonline.com/cookeryschool/howto/how_0000000057.asp

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Mangoes, to the pub.

Is that funny?

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that funny?

I read this as "is that fanny?" You people are nuts.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

So... the Angel then?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked what Steady Mike said, just then.

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

a wee bit funny

RJG (RJG), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

So... the Angel then?

is that the place with the dart board?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I am more interested in NOW!

Or at least IN A BIT!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be hotdeskin' my mango over to the Lowlander in 48mins time and thereafter will be Princess Louisin' it. But not for very long - I am on babby patrol tonight.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Stevie, but the Angel is a tiny, smoky hole. Can it be somewhere else?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

*cough*cometoclubseal*cough*

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

how about the hardy's in greenwich?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, you say hello to Ally Cee for me and try to get a bit of sympathy out of him because I won't be out till 6 bastard 30. I will go to the Prince Naseem. If the Lowlander Massive are still there later, I might 'pop my head round the door' for a minute or two.

(There's always one, isn't there?)

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Mark, but the Angel has 3 rooms and a beer garden. And it's central for everyone.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Plenty to tidy up.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't be making it to the Lowlander after all; a combination of an alarming call from a client, frustrating but also unsurprising lack of response from senior management and my own personal lethargy have conspired to keep me stuck to the chair until such time as I am dragged to the Princess Louise by peer pressure.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I thought you were just having a bit of a chit-chat. I think senior management has gone home.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Are people still meeting up today? I have no idea where if so. Somewhere with Sky Sports would be good for watching relegation meltdown.

$V£N! (blueski), Sunday, 15 May 2005 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

It seems we are still meeting at The Angel at 2pm, then probably finding somewhere for footy watchers to watch footy.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 15 May 2005 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm afraid i'm going to stay in today as i've had a couple of heavy-ish nights and i'm out tomorrow and tuesday as well.

lovely to see you on friday though ally, see you soon (with top pop combo .2. hopefully) :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 15 May 2005 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

What Mr Carsmile said. Also, I've just woken up and by the time I leave the house it could be dangerously close to kick-off time. Have fun kids!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 15 May 2005 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Reporting Back...

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 16 May 2005 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I was only going for two pints...

Pete (Pete), Monday, 16 May 2005 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry we didn't make it. Ruin. I hope you sat outside though.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 16 May 2005 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Highlight of the weekend may have been meeting Robert Forster after the G-B's show: Cook and RF discussing guitar solos, me and RF in a sickening display of mutual admiration.

Sunday saw us meet up with Pete B, Pipas, a member of the Lucksmiths, Tim and Gail for indie drinks in Waterloo.

Here is a picture of some pudus:

http://www.bobharris.com/images/stories/pudus/pudumama.jpg

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 16 May 2005 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Not sure about the punctuation there.

So Ally & RF discussed solos, & JtN & RF discussed each other?

Quite some indie name-dropping there, btw.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 16 May 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. Sorry.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 16 May 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh and thanks again, London. You never let me down.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 16 May 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Good to see you again on the Friday. Have a great time in New York.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 16 May 2005 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally, I'm proud of you discussing guitar solos. Which solos in particular? Eruption? Stairway to Heaven?

KeefW (kmw), Monday, 16 May 2005 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally C, did the Pinefox let you down? Did he not have a word or two to counterbalance the "sickening display of mutual admiration"? In the end, did he not prove to be immune or inaccessible to R. Forster's charms?

youn, Monday, 16 May 2005 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

cookie told me about a couple of verry jerry moments.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 16 May 2005 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Sadly, The Pinefox was not present. However, I did hear a little about his meeting with Morley. Now that's intruiging,

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Morley was on Richard & Judy today.

Glad you had a nice time, Ally.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)
