The detail is beautiful but they're kind of intellectually naive at the same time. (Samson's pillars look like Noddy house-building bricks for example.)

(Being intellectually naive wasn't a criticism. I think that's why I think they're beautiful.) The Quixote illustrations are way more intense than I picture Quixote, and that's great too.
