Telling an acquaintance you dreamed about them, C/D?

If it were a good friend, I'd have no problem. But for someone in the acquaintance stage, it's a bit weirder. I had an acquaintance dream last night, and it was pretty funny. I suspect the acquaintance would appreciate it. On the other hand, I don't want to weird her out or for her to think I'm, you know, thinking about her all the time (I'm not!) or somehow romantically or sexually interested (I'm not). Do you like hearing that you've been dreamt about?

I'd feel so... violated! Or should that be 'flattered'? Well, one or the other.

Funnily enough, the office gossip came up to me at work today...

"Ooh, you look ravishing stood there like that."

Me: "Um... thanks."

"I had a dream about you last night, you know"

Me, warily: "What happened?"

"I was naked, and tied up" - she mimed being stood up with her hands tied above her head - "and you were whipping me!"

"Riiiight. Um... must go, have to pop over to the other branch this morning."

no one cares what you dreamt about unless you dreamt about them

She just wanted to see you squirm - like an eel with an itch.

is FP SOP?

oops (Oops), Friday, 23 September 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

That's fairly likely, but mostly I think it's just attention-seeking. A week ago she got back from holiday, and decided that I wasn't talking to her as much as to the other women in her office, so she started sending me emails saying "have you fallen out with me? You came in here earlier and talked to X but you didn't say anything to me." She's constantly paranoid that everyone in the office hates her, partly because a past office supervisor was fired for bullying her.

SOP?

If I have a dirty dream about someone I'm not supposed to, of course I'm not going to tell them. But I understand -- even innocent dreams about acquaintances might be weird to talk about. There's something pretty intimate about it. "You were in my head last night." Hey, keep it to yrself.

that girl is a dangerous nutter and you should steer clear. or fuck her. one or the other.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 23 September 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

At the same time would be tricky.
