Defend the Indefensible: Shower Curtains

While the subject is on my mind from the cleaning the tub naked thread, what is the deal with SHOWER CURTAINS!?!?! They are evil, vile, clingy things that are just CREEPY. I will, and have gone, to great lengths to find a way to make a shower door work instead of the dreaded "curtain".

Um they are pretty obv defensible if you just have a tub and there is no door (aka they beat a lot of water all over your bathroom.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 25 September 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

mine get grimy quickly; there's only a poxy fan in the bathroom, and the shower makes it a steam-fest. they're indefensible. but necessary. sigh.

our old upstairs neighbor didn't get one when she moved in. then our ceiling drywall fell down because of the gallons of water she was gushing all over her floor. what a dumbass

the best ones are the heaviest ones. that way they're easier to clean and don't try and strangle you when having a hot shower

"When I shower, all the water that gets on the floor is dried up by the evening, which means it must have gone to heaven!"

How old was the bitch, 18 and retarded or 75 and retarded? Incredible.

LeCoq (LeCoq), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

LOL Jimmy Glass.

That is exactly the trouble with the pesky bastards. They take on alien cling qualities and give me the willies.

And no, I do not. For those of you up there who think that I just let the water run on the floor.

Rather than have one of the things, I installed glass shower doors. Pain in the a**, however necessary.

Wiggy (Wiggy), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

You had a 'let's use the plastic bag as a helmet' incident in childhood, yeah?

LeCoq (LeCoq), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

ya, I guess I did. *shakes off willies*

I didn't know then that "a plastic bag is NOT a toy."

Wiggy (Wiggy), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:17 (twenty years ago)

i have a world map shower curtain. it's pretty amazing.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

where is tasmania on it?

jimmy glass (electricsound), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

it's by australia, down there

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

I am sure you look quite stunning in the world map as it clings to your body like a crazed jelly fish.

They are really stunning visually some of them, however I'd rather hang it on a wall as faux "art" than use it in its intended function.

Wiggy (Wiggy), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah it's a really nice shower curtain, it's clear save for the map part so it doesn't do the privacy job but i don't care about that. too bad my shower doesn't really work.

oh yeah that thing about shower curtains strangling you, it's strange. i used to take mega long hot showers in my old apartment and sometimes the curtain would stick to the walls, creating a seal, and it would get really steamy and the curtain would suddenly blow in on me and try to kill me.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

Ya, They're like that. Lull you into a sense of security as you shower then... Whammo! attack! When you least expect it they grap you in their strangle hold.

Wiggy (Wiggy), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Mine doesn't grab me, it just...touches me. I tell it to stop, but it keeps on touching me.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

Glub mffmrrfgh...mrmrgg...HA TAKE THAT.

They don't billow as badly if you can leave it a bit open on one end, without soaking the floor, of course. Or buy a heavier curtain, but then cf other thread for my problems with that.

Laurel, Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

Haven't had any problems with mine for the last three years, just needs to be washed every so often (as I last did a week ago).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 September 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

i now officially know absolutely everything about ned. the internet can end anytime.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 26 September 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

I seem to buy a new plastic shower curtain once every 18 months or so. I currently have the NY subway map one.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 26 September 2005 03:52 (twenty years ago)

(also, perhaps you mean the internet can ned anytime?)
