It's been there for a few years. HAve you just started using a new browser?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 13:19 (twenty years ago)

Strangely, earlier today I was getting the google icon there when I looked at ILX. It's back to normal again now.

(it's been there for ages, Mark!)

The Internet Explorer logo next to the http adress has just turned to a little ILX logo!

I seem to remember that that icon was one of the more popular entries in the "suggest a logo for ILX" thread from a few years ago.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 13:22 (twenty years ago)

Well, it just appeared out of nowhere for no apparent.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 13:48 (twenty years ago)

and still it doesn't show up on IE

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

it does on mine (only the new answers page though, these actual pages show the explorer icon)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 13:54 (twenty years ago)

really? what ie version do you run?

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

and still it doesn't show up on IE

you need to add the page as a favorite

my name is john. i reside in chicago. (frankE), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

And even then it's incredibly random.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

and I didn't do that.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 27 September 2005 15:06 (twenty years ago)

.. and today, it's gone!

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

Use Firefox and it will always be there.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

not always. mine has disappeared (although the link for the query to return today's message still has it). one of my bbc links has an icon that is the top left hand corner of the other bbc links magnified x2.

firefox keeps the icon data in the same file as the bookmarks encoded as base64 or something so it should be easy enough to copy them for one to another (but you probably need to do it whilst firefox isn't running)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 10:33 (twenty years ago)

for no reason i can ascertain, the favicon for house.co.uk on my Firefox is a little oldskool Netscape 'N' logo.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

How do you install that? I never worked out how you manage to install it (on your website). :-(((

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

on my works computer none of my favourites have a special icon, i think this might be something to do with our firewall. IE at home at least has some favourite icons but it's never worked for ILX.

Firefox always shows them, including my own website ones.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

i'm still upset we didn't use my dog logo
