D.L. Hughley Tears Them Apart On VH1's "Big In '05 Awards"

Oh my god, I'm just watching the rerun of this (didn't catch it the first time), and D.L. Hughley is saying things that people are actually booing and shaking their heads at. For instance, he was talking about the biggest mistakes of 2005 and mentioned the guy from Star Trek who came out of the closet. He said, "When you're that old, just stay in the closet. No one wants to see your Chinese ass rollerblading around West Hollywood in a pair of daisy dukes. And I know he's Japanese, but they all run from Godzilla the same way." People also didn't like him insulting TomKat. He even had an extended rant about how W could have ended up in a napkin if George Bush Sr. had "pulled out" sooner (he was first talking about the Iraq/Gulf War). Now, it's not that I thought everything he said was gutbusting, but I can get behind someone stirring things up like that (and, generally, being on point more often than not). What did you guys think?

Was he the guy who said re: katrina that you know things are fucked up when you're getting clean water from mexico? I flipped past that. He was pretty awful. I'm not quite ready for an actual 'what was THAT about' pageant.

And I wouldn't mistake a bad comedian flopping in front of people more famous than him with 'stirring things up.'

fair enough, but... but.. he was actually funny! I mean, he took the piss out of the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes thing, and everyone was just like, "Oh no, Tom won't invite me to that party if I laugh."
