What are the cultural products (movies, TV series, books, bands, artists, etc.) you actually like, but find their diehard fans irritating? The obvious answer to me is Monty Python. I never want to hear someone re-enact a sketch, or play a Monty Python song at a party, ever!

Tori Amos. Ani Difranco. Maybe Sex and the City. iPods.

Laura H. (laurah), Thursday, 12 January 2006 17:47 (twenty years ago)

I meant, Kevin Smith is a John Hughes fan, and I don't hate him. More of a paradox than an oxymoron, perhaps.

Let's hope not; I'm one of them. Though I have to admit the ardor has cooled a bit in the last several years.

Laura H. (laurah), Thursday, 12 January 2006 18:33 (twenty years ago)

Buffy/Angel. Even talking about it to someone my own age (23) usually just ends up with them wanting to know which couple was cutest, lots of adding names together to make one name, and wasn't it horrible when the nice characters died, and so on.

Simpsons. Everyone like the Simpsons so I can't say I can't stand all Simpsons fans, but the ones who quote the programme are going to make sure it ends up in a Python shaped hole in my heart.
