the writer character keeps writing stuff that isn't true, because
it's a better story. so there's a degree to which the film is saying
this is how the black and white myths came about, but this is what it
was really like. it is only a v small part of the film tho, but it
was important at the time cos there was a lot of that about in other
films. iirc.
