The "Viva Piñata" XBox 360 game will feature over 60 unique piñata animal characters who live on a garden island. The game allows players to customize the garden environment to attract, protect and interact with the characters, which include Franklin Fizzlybear, a fox named Paulie Pretztail and a donkey named Hudson Horstacio.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:04 (twenty years ago)

The Black Eyed Peas are making another videogame?

Dan (The Urbz Wasn't Enough?) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:06 (twenty years ago)

You mean the goal of the game is to get characters with names like Stinky Stizzlewatts to piss themselves?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:06 (twenty years ago)

"attract, protect and interact"

Just when they think they're safe . . . WHAM! The candy will flow like blood.

Although the concept uses the traditionally Latin American candy-filled punching bag, executives said the characters will be English-speaking only.

PINATA RACISM.

the traditionally Latin American candy-filled punching bag

I thought Fergie was Irish-Canadian????

Oh man, I hope the piñatas look like the ones at the grocery store: bad rip-offs of characters past their heyday. Fake-ass Powerpuff Girls, Teletubbies, Elmos, Keroppis, and a giant three-tiered birthday cake named Kurze Kuche because he's from der Vaterland.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:33 (twenty years ago)

I loved piñatas as a kid, always wishing there was a video game where I could lure and protect them in my secret garden along with Nancy Friday, or possibly Dickon depending on how old I was.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

kurze kuche = short cake?

PRIVATE HELL 36 (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it's funny because he's tall! And he wonders, why was I named such? And in a mini-game you have to tactfully exaplin to him that his parents were sniffing gasoline while he was in utero, and that's why he has arthritis.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:38 (twenty years ago)

It's also why his Eltern gave him eine dumbe Name.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:38 (twenty years ago)

Another mini-game is with Purply Pangodabear, the fake Tinky-Winky, where a red ball and a blue ball fly around on the screen for twenty minutes during which you have no control of the action. When they combine to make purple, he gives you a map of the underground salt mines, where you find Horatio getting paid pesos a day.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:40 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, Hudson Horstachio.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 20:41 (twenty years ago)

ich bin sehr konfus

Parvenu Pinniped, the hilariously bingling manatee piñata that confuses ugly kitsch for classy decor. You have to give him lessons on correct upper-class habits in an Emily Post-inspired minigame. When you win, you get a magical monocle that lets you see treasures in trees. You also get to smoke some delicious smokes at Vassily Vulture's gentleman's club.

Okay, why the hell did I misread this as MANGINICAL monocle?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 16 March 2006 01:14 (twenty years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 16 March 2006 02:19 (twenty years ago)

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 16 March 2006 02:25 (twenty years ago)

Hmm. That makes too much sense.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 16 March 2006 02:28 (twenty years ago)

I thought they were writing music for it... cos they'd have to sing in Simglish (other bands have done so). Im not sure though.
