How much do your parents earn?

I was just wondering because that other thread asks how much do YOU earn, and although that's a pretty good topic, I just thought we might be able to find out so much more about people if we also knew how much their parents earn.

I'll start: my parents are dead so they don't make anything ($0.00) in a year.

i think I make more money now than my father ever made in his lifetime (he died in 97), after working 25 or 30 years for the US government. however, he was able to buy a house (and sell it, and buy another house). we certainly didnt live anything like a wealthy life but we weren't poor; still, even though I make so much more than he did, I feel massively more poor than my family seemed. inflation and living in the bay area I guess. still, it pisses me off.

my parents make an appropriate amount in relation to typical older people who live in big northeast cities and have been at their jobs for a long time and have been deemed appropriately competent at them. i.e. not zillionaires, but they'll retire in decent financial shape.

Hey Kyle, you know who else grew up in Pueblo and moved to the Bay area? Bl4ine from Tuxedomo0n! There's this whole photo log on his website where he goes back to Pueblo, eats the Pass Key, snaps a shot of the More-Skinny sign (I had totally forgotten the More-Skinny sign), and swings by East High.

I was really excited by this but have had trouble finding anyone who cares.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 23 March 2006 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Haha that's right he eats the ENTIRE Pass Key, foundation and all!

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 23 March 2006 23:13 (twenty years ago)

whoa that is weird. what is his website?

I haven't been back there in, er, 15 years? I almost went this year. I wonder if the DSotM cover is still painted on the concrete walls of the aquaduct

(my parents left pueblo in 87 to move to the bay area and I think they had to sell their house for $30k. hence a lifetime of horrible mortgages. what a bad decision, although in total not one I completely regret, because if I lived on the mesa one more year I surely would have shot myself)

Seriously, his photo of the More-Skinny sign practically made me misty.

I have only a vague idea what my parents make and really don't care. I know I make less than half as much as my father does, and probably a little less than twice what my mother does.

haha the murals ARE still there, that is too funny. sorry for hijacking this thread with ruminations on a town no-one has ever been to.

My mom's on disability. I think she gets like $570 a month.

My mum is essentially in indentured servitude to the Church. It's shocking, and really wouldn't ba allowed in any other profession.

My dad, when he feels like being a genius, clocks crazy dollars. But most of the time he feels like being lazy and lives off The Tooth Fairy his |-|.P. royalties.

My fam's been on welfare twice pre-1994 but now I think the old boy and lady are riding eight figures, clean. I hardly dip into the family pot out of pride/spite (Dad used to beat us all down, as i've recounted here, so it's kinda like 'you can't buy forgiveness pops') so that's why I was running street game during hte barfstyle.mov era and sometimes living trife during my current ventures...but yeah, whenever I actually approach bankruptcy no matter how hard I've tried, it's nice to know all the ramen was simply gestural crap and my ass is covered for all time. So yeah that means artists on my label are getting 50%+ of profits on everything period guaranteed before I get my share, which seems to keep them some smilin ass niggas on the homefront....lol

and if anyone wants to call Triumphalist on that post, whatever...Dad's ex-military aand I bet just two or three of the beatdowns I got would have put most of yall in an ICU for a month

Considering that my father is gone and my mother is retired (& disabled), I'd say my parent(s) earn nothing. My mom draws from her and my father's pensions, but as my mother retired from civil service and my dad was employed in a trade their pensions are a joke. Not like we were ever a family of moneybags; for much of my life, our family was very much blue-collar/working class and can actually recall with little effort a time when we moved to this regular middle class part of town and it was, like, WHOA, huge difference!
