Who wants a free subscription to the LRB? (Haiku contest - UK only)

So as a renewing subscriber, I get to give someone a free 1-year subscription to the London Review of Books. As I'm a postgraduate (in English), it seems that all of my friends are already subscribers. Post a haiku explaining why you want the subscription, include a real email address, and I'll write to the best one to get the relevant details. You must be a UK resident.

I thought that this was going to be a thread about the Little River Band.

Maybe whoever wins the competition could be offended by something and then send in a haiku announcing that they are cancelling their subscription.

On a withered twig
Lo, the crow is sitting there -
Oh, this Autumn eve!

My love's lengthened hair
Swings o'er me from Heaven's gate:
Lo! Evening's shadow!

Catch me, caress me,
Crush me! Gather a dewdrop -
Star to a system!

The rose petals fall -
The red petals of my heart -
Oh the breath of love!

Oh how bitter
Is the White Poppy Death;
There are no more dreams of love.

The pale moth
Trembles with the white moonlight;
Thus my heart trembles with love.

A virtuous circle!
