Spring. Peoples' bare arms, legs. Crumpled bright clothes.

Walking on the street and everyone trying to act like they're not watching each other in any new way. But secretly...it's the return of the voyeur! Comments...

girls are pretty

Nah, April is the cruelest month.

Robocock (noodle vague), Thursday, 30 March 2006 21:56 (twenty years ago)

x-post. Agreed. Girls are, generally, pretty. But also funny: knobbly knees, pointedly "new" clothes, longer times spent standing on street corners, in parks, behind sunglasses. Looking and being looked at. A little nervous, but probably mostly anticipating...in a month or so we'll all forget this moment (I'm writing from New York where it's unusually balmy). So let's remember here, before all descends into sweating, drinking, wanting to get out of the city, not caring...

paulhw (paulhw), Thursday, 30 March 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Too late.

Can't relate, Thursday, 30 March 2006 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I totally saw the city open up today. Everybody is DYING to wear as little clothes as possible and there was a great deal of unnecessarily skimpy clothing wearing going on today: lil' strap tanktops and miniskirts. Dude, it's only early fifties; this ain't for comfort. It's out of NEED.

I just walkwed to the satore in shorts. I hate shorts, but it was the principle of the thing.

Gilbert O'Sullivan (kenan), Friday, 31 March 2006 03:15 (twenty years ago)

Today I wore my sarong and my littel sandals with the periwinkle bows. On the top, I was nude except for a sash wich barely covered me! It was exquisite! I got quite a few welcome comments.

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Friday, 31 March 2006 03:35 (twenty years ago)

I hate spring. It symbolizes impending summer and summer is the most miserable time of year for me. It's super-hot, super-sticky, and super-unpleasant. I hate summer. I hate extremely bright, sunny days. And I hate spring for being a reminder that summer is around the corner. Grrr.

See Me, Repeat Me (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 31 March 2006 04:08 (twenty years ago)

Gilbert O'Sullivan (kenan), Friday, 31 March 2006 04:31 (twenty years ago)

also, haha, spring. Texas doesn't have seasons!

Gilbert O'Sullivan (kenan), Friday, 31 March 2006 04:32 (twenty years ago)

I saw a girl wearing flip-flops today! :)

Yeah, talk up a big game Chicago boy. You still come from here, you know. And hey, we've actually been getting fall/autumn and spring this year! At the expense of winter, sure, but at least we're experiencing one more season than we'd normally get.

See Me, Repeat Me (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 31 March 2006 04:59 (twenty years ago)

i liked seeing all the smiling dogs out for walks today but i tend to dislike this time of year. maybe its the legions of flip flops or the constant "arent you hot?"

kephm (kephm), Friday, 31 March 2006 05:14 (twenty years ago)

i anticipate work tomorrow being excellent for babe viewing.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Friday, 31 March 2006 05:24 (twenty years ago)

in early springtime, i least doubt my heterosexuality. goddamn women are pretty.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Friday, 31 March 2006 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Apparently, girls are attention whores.

Sashes & Shit, Friday, 31 March 2006 06:30 (twenty years ago)

If that's aimed at who I think it's aimed at, it's rofflicious.

Robocock (noodle vague), Friday, 31 March 2006 06:32 (twenty years ago)

Girls? Not the dude above.

Sashes & Shit, Friday, 31 March 2006 06:46 (twenty years ago)

AMEN!!!!

I came here just to say this exact same thing. I get depressed in the summer. I stay indoors all day until I am forced out by work or hunger or the need for beer.

I like seeing skin, but it's just not worth it. I could live in perpetual (Chicago!) winter and fall. Come on, winter, nuclear if necessary.

Daddy's Little Duder (unclejessjess), Friday, 31 March 2006 07:46 (twenty years ago)

After an English winter (not cold, but just endlessly GREY) the bright colours of spring are eternally welcome. Today I went out without a jumper! For the first time since last year! I feel free! Tra la la! I might even do something bold like... go out for lunch!

Coffee, Pizza and Boris Johnson Playing In My Smoke Free Living Room, Pls (kate), Friday, 31 March 2006 08:31 (twenty years ago)

Well I for one welcome global warming.

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Friday, 31 March 2006 08:40 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I went out the door yesterday and - whoah! don't need my coat today! - went back in threw off my winter garments. Ahh, sweet release!

David Orton (scarlet), Friday, 31 March 2006 08:53 (twenty years ago)

I wore a Barbour jacket to work today! Woo woo! Next week I might not even need it and then City ladies can gawk at the tight spots on my suit trousers.

BARMS, Friday, 31 March 2006 09:00 (twenty years ago)

Barbour jacket... rrrrowr!

It's so nice outside. I am wearing no jumper, and CRUISED to work with the windows DOWN. Oh yes.

Hahah. Not only did I do this too, but when I went home at lunch I deliberately took the long countryside route home, so I could zoom down the open road with the windows open.

If that does't work yeah I am a spaz. But it's still a picture of spring. And a complete cliche. BUt i am glad I could finally finish work, and it be light, and I could flip-flop down to the cheery trees and fight with tourists.

uptoeleven (uptoeleven), Friday, 31 March 2006 13:46 (twenty years ago)

remove the space between the < and img. Second character in is a space for some bizarre reason. Remove it. Or, the easy way to do it is just put an i in front of the URL.

This thread has inspired me to open my window.

The reason spring is better than summer is that (in england at least) it might still rain in spring. The most perfect weather possible, ever, is when everyone wakes up to bright, clear, sunny mornings, and heads out wearing not-much, then gets caught in heavey lunchtime showers. Result: a whole world of wet shirts.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:11 (twenty years ago)

this season sure brings out the raving perv in everyone

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:12 (twenty years ago)

Oooh oooh. Can I plz go take more pictures of spring - by which i mean girls in floaty skirts and flip-flops - and post 'em here? Or is this for discussion of spring only and not for befouling with colossal images?

uptoeleven (uptoeleven), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but not just for voyeuristic reasons! It's so nice to come back to the life of the body, of sensations, after sort of shutting down for winter and being always muffled from light & temperature changes under clothing and behind doors and curtains. It's good to be open to the world and to feel things again.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:17 (twenty years ago)

Laurel, you're turning me on. "Life of the body" indeed.

Gilbert O'Sullivan (kenan), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:22 (twenty years ago)

Getcher mind out of that there gutter, Kenan. You winter in Chicago, you know what it's like when you just try to feel as little as possible because it will only be COLD and ITCHY DRY SKIN and thin, unsatisfying light.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:28 (twenty years ago)

Hoorah! A project!

uptoeleven (uptoeleven), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:30 (twenty years ago)

I felt the air in my little arm hairs yesterday and it was really nice. Also, my knees are exposed today. Hurrah for SPRING!

AREA STUDENTS PREPARE BREASTS FOR INCREASED SPRINGTIME DISPLAY

(it was funny but I can't find a link)

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 31 March 2006 14:47 (twenty years ago)

Heheh - found it...

"Although we are deeply opposed to the systematic sexual objectification
of women and their breasts by male heterodoxy, we lesbians are in a
uniquely two-fold position of strength in these wondrous springtime
months, enjoying both the opportunity to display our fantastic breasts
to others, and the chance to enjoy an eyeful of the breasts of our
fellow sisters," says Meghan Thomas of Lesbian Students for Social
Change.

Spotting a lithe, tube-topped, female rollerblader speeding along
nearby, she bit her knuckles, adding, "Wow!"

AMEN!!!!

Ah, a kindred spirit in Unclejessjess. Though you live in Chicago? I thought all Chicagoland dudes would be sick of winter enough to where they were all big celebrators of the dawning of spring. Wow. Super duper thanks, then.

Also: I have both my bedroom windows flung open and the fan going at this point. I think in two more weeks, the air conditioner will be turned on. Thanks a frickin' lot, spring.

See Me, Repeat Me (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 1 April 2006 01:46 (twenty years ago)

I am in Chicago and if I ever start thinking I'm tired of winter I just remember the profound oppression that I felt on the day it hit 102 in here and I had to go to work. I spent most of the day really irritable, snapping at anyone who crossed my path.

A few weeks back spring hit hard and it was in the 70's and I almost stopped up the windows with A/C units, but then the next day it was cold again.

I really enjoyed today's weather (mid-60's, windy and sunny) but I know a harbinger of badness when I see one, however bright a form it may assume.
