what is it about tins fo food that are bloated top and bottom. Are these dangerous to eat?

If my understanding of botulism is correct, the best indicator you would have is the bloated tin itself. I don't think you would be able to detect the bacteria that produces the toxin.

Glad you didn't eat the stuff - botulism can kill you, and even if it doesn't, it wouldn't be a pleasant experience.

The crazy part to me is that people deliberately inject botulism toxin into their faces (Botox). I don't know how wrinkly my forehead would have to get before that would be even remotely tempting.
