Watching the film at its original shooting location: C/D

If you ever wanted to watch The Shining at the Stanley Hotel or Escape from Alcatraz on Alcatraz, this is for you. How about Jaws on Martha's Vineyard, or Clerks in the vacant lot across from the Quick Stop?

Total classic film geek wet dream: the Alamo Drafthouse is putting on its Rolling Roadshow again this year. I can't make it to a single show but I know that some ILXers will appreciate the heads up. It looks like a good number of them are free this year, too.

How about Jaws on Martha's Vineyard

My father stupidly showed my already meek four-year-old brother the shots of our house in certain parts of Jaws. Yeah, I don't think he ever really got over that and he always had to act really heroic when he swam in the ocean. Poor little guy...

the stanley hotel is where the shining tv remake was filmed; the kubrick version was shot in england like the rest of his movies.

Aha, the Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood in Oregon was used for the exteriors. I knew there was a domestic connection, as I knew of a couple who'd had their wedding at the hotel.
