what i hated about sonic was the permanant facial expression in the artwork, in game it at least changed sometimes, but whenever he was featured in magazines it was the same stupid smug bastard face

worst:

* pansy ass whining emo girly slacker fuckheads esp. if they are supposed to be "You, The Hero" and their best weapon is a ridiculously long sword with OTT hilt decoration

* macho grunty space marine who refuse to wear helmets even though the rest of their body is covered in six inches of some kind of cast-iron robot armor which is somehow completely ineffective against teeth, claws or projectiles

Guybrush yes yes yes, he's great. The bizarre thing is that I was just thinking about Toejam & Earl yesterday.

Sonic is fine enough, and I like Tails a lot, but DESTROY all wisecracking, attitude-laden Sonic clones, eg Bubsy, Aero the Acrobat, etc.

Most video game protagonists are kind of cyphers - I like King Graham well enough but mostly he's just me, in a way that Guybrush obviously isn't...

I have an enduring fondness for all digitized-speech characters from the late disk/early CD-ROM age, especially: the old man from Return to Zork ("I need a new battery!"), the Guardian from Ultima 7 ("AVATAR!!!") and the entire casts of King's Quest VI ("Old lamps for new!") and Wing Commander II ("The fools blame HIM for the loss of the Tiger's Claw!").
