i watched her talk on a tv monitor abutting the filled hall she was in. she said that she wrote to her mother every day, for her entire life, or maybe it was just since she was married. dozens of years.

and her mother kept every letter, bundled them up by month, and returned them to her daughter at the end of the year. she distrusts memory, and her distrust has given her this overpowering impulse to record.

is this tendency a defense against the panopticon??? it's a bit like internet message boards.
