this is easier

Ronan, Monday, 14 May 2007 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

pack drill?

I like a clean slate.

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

remember that baby shower i'm planning? it's this saturday. i'm making pink lemonade & strawberry ice cream. i'm supplying drinks, too.

Ai Lien, Monday, 14 May 2007 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

And no band? No extra hassle for you? Well done. I hope it goes well.

I forget what a pack drill is, Ms Misery.

accentmonkey, Monday, 14 May 2007 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

lemonade and ice cream sounds right for a baby shower. and jello shots. (just kidding)

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

the mom-to-be is encouraging drinks, thankfully. how do you make jello shots? i made them once. it became an incident, where we had to hose the drive way down. bad news.

Ai Lien, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:16 (nineteen years ago)

aw, i missed the fireworks fun.

g-kit, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

jello shots are scary. Don't you just make jello substituing part of the water with liquor? couldn't tell you what ratio though. I would think cosmos or margaritas might be nice for a shower.

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

the wedding i went to this past weekend, so elegant, so beautiful. but there were jello shots. ?! i stuck with champagne.

Ai Lien, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

we made jello shots with whiskey once as it was all we had. BAD IDEA.

lauren, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

this thread is <3

g-kit, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

2 then?

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:45 (nineteen years ago)

well uh... yah.

g-kit, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

shudder to whiskey jello shots. whew!

Ai Lien, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

How about combining the pink lemonade with something...I did a baby shower where I made a champagne punch, and then had a nice non-champagne punch. i can't remember - I know i floated a bunch of sliced fruit in two punchbowls and tried to do everything from scratch.
The six quiches really seem to be haunting me - for some reason i get these ideas and then forget about the size of the oven, number of baking dishes, etc. that i have. Six quiches with three pie pans:( Removing/transferring a quiche is not so easy.
it all came out well in the end! Ha-ha.
I'm glad we have a spanky new thread!

aimurchie, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

we were in high school, so... you know. somewhere in my pea brain i had the idea that it would work since we had lemon jello, and people drank whiskey sours with lemon.

lauren, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

that's kinda cute, though. (lauren)

i think i'll leave the pink lemonade as is. we will probably concoct some heinous potion and i'll tell ya'll all about it. (aim)

Ai Lien, Monday, 14 May 2007 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

Our neighbors are planning on a crazy baby shower with bands and whatnot, but we should be in the new place by then. It could be fun, I guess. I'd rather be sipping some spiked pink lemonade!

Texas weather madness: I hauled a zucchini the size of my forearm out of the garden.

patita, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

Whiskey and fruit flavored gelatin? Whiskey and fruit flavored anything? It's a bad flavor combination.
HOWEVER - since you merely swallow the jello shots, i suppose the flavor is not an issue.
More the rumbling of the tummy as your body attempts to discern what the hell you just swallowed.
I had some vodka infused gummi worms (like jello shots, but shaped liked worms) at a ladies only part.A Mom's night out party - I'm one of the only non-mom's who attends. I kind of loved that some perfectly wonderful PTA mom showed her true colors by making VODKA LACED GUMMI WORMS!
I just had to avoid the toking room - these moms, unfettered, party like rock stars.
it's fun because: I see them around (it's a huge party,a small town, and i only know a handful of the ladies)and we just smile. And I substitute teach their kids! Which is very hilarious.
Much of life is solved by a wink and a smile.

aimurchie, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:12 (nineteen years ago)

We had food poisoning for 24 hrs. I still need to run to the loo. :-(

stevienixed, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:33 (nineteen years ago)

Liking the new thread. Oh no Nat, there's nothing fun about that :(

kv_nol, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:36 (nineteen years ago)

I know. :-((( Brushed my teeth way too many times during the night. Is that the best way to say how much you puked? ;-)

stevienixed, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

argh, what did you eat?

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e391/marthasminions/tanglescan-may07.jpg

I found you guys!!!!
Now I have to go back to work. I came home for coffee, because the ceaseless wind was wearing on my nerves and I needed stimulants and also a jacket.

Beth Parker, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:46 (nineteen years ago)

Sam, fries and sausages from some dingy stand on the market place. Funny, when Thom told me where he got it, I got all dubious about the quality of the food.

stevienixed, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

Was Ophelia sick too?

Beth, is that a dirty drawing?

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:53 (nineteen years ago)

Oh god no! We don't let her eat fries (yet). I think we'll be getting our own frier (?) soon. I mean, I don't think we'll quit eating fried food, just from crap junk food places.

I know what that drawing is: my intestines having a fight. ;-)

stevienixed, Monday, 14 May 2007 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

I could have sworn there was at least one of these threads that wasn't location specific... Oh well.

luna, Monday, 14 May 2007 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh, Beth, the drawing of Nath's intestines looks like the kind of Celtic designs that you get all over things like the Book of Kells, and that we used to have on our coins.

In Ireland, I mean, not in our house. We do not mint our own money here.

More babies! My cousin and his wife have just sprogged.

accentmonkey, Monday, 14 May 2007 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

I could have sworn there was at least one of these threads that wasn't location specific... Oh well.

Do you mean our old one? ;) I think if most of those folks didn't leave ILx they went to the ChiThreads. oh well.

Ms Misery, Monday, 14 May 2007 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

I'm guessing Luna means TITTWIS, no?

ailsa, Monday, 14 May 2007 21:28 (nineteen years ago)

I did, but I suppose I was being petty. Nemmine.

luna, Monday, 14 May 2007 21:33 (nineteen years ago)

I love the Book of Kells! I wish I could retire and curl up on the couch and draw intestines.
Poor Nath! Donald got terrible pukes last month from a bad oyster. He went out without me—I was working late. Phew. I would have been sick too, cuz I'm a pig for oysters.

Beth Parker, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 00:44 (nineteen years ago)

Has anyone pointed out how grammatically ambiguous "it's the top new answers thread that isn't location specific" is?

I'm still not sure I understand what it means.

Welcome Hurting.

aimurchie, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 05:28 (nineteen years ago)

And one million thank you's to Patita for the box of wonder.
My kitties chase the wind up duck. I blast the CD.
You rock, you roll - thank you.

aimurchie, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 05:37 (nineteen years ago)

your mum's a new top answers thread that isn't location specific.

g-kit, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 07:53 (nineteen years ago)

I am at desk in suit. How I hate having visitors :(

I hopefully will get pint at lunch which will make it all better/sleepier!

I like the new thread, I cannot comment on grammar sadly.

Kit, don't tell horrible lies about people across threads plz :)

kv_nol, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 07:58 (nineteen years ago)

Oh and that was meant jokingly!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 07:59 (nineteen years ago)

i must correct you; my lies are TERRIBLE.

g-kit, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 08:03 (nineteen years ago)

plus i am a terrible liar

g-kit, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 08:03 (nineteen years ago)

Trust me to get quote wrong :(

kv_nol, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 08:51 (nineteen years ago)

Are they terrible? I prefer tawdry myself. Or sordid. If there must be lies (and there must), let us have sordid ones.

I watched the Panorama programme about the, you know, Tom Cruise people (I'm afraid to put the name of their organization in in case the little man from Murphy Brown who was on the programme comes around and shouts and jabs his finger at me) last night and it made me want to punch people.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 09:00 (nineteen years ago)

When I was growing up a friend and I were handed a flyer offering something (I used to say free drink but that can't be correct!) if we answered some questions. We were about 14 at the time and said of course (yay, something to do, etc.). So we filled out the questionnaire for a group that we'd never heard of. Needless to say it was the group as mentioned above! We never got the call so obviously didn't fit the profile but I'll never forget my parents' reaction. It was like I had tried to join the Opu5 D3i (ps. a group with v v strong recruitment drives on the lonely. Horrible altogether)! We were too young to have known of the reputation of the group in Denmark at that time. It was a couple of years later when the nanny murdered those kids and they were really paid attention to.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 09:12 (nineteen years ago)

what's the opposite of a blessing in disguise? i just had one.

g-kit, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

A poo in a profiterole?

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

Yes Luna I agree, when Ronan started this one I thought "um, we had one of those for years and years". But I think a lot of people were too intimidated by the "cliqueness" to properly get involved with TITWIS. This is good. Although I do miss JuliaA, Martin, Dee, Nick and Sarah, Markleby, Pink etc. Of course half of that crew just segregated themselves off in the Chicago threads. Bah.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 13:38 (nineteen years ago)

oh kit, a trojan horse?

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 13:38 (nineteen years ago)

oh holy crap @ polar bear! i'll do that, sorry! all i need is reminding.

do you have any specific gamestyle challenges for my Tropiblog game?

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

Tropico Gold - £4.99 delivered. I suppose I could take a chance on that.

onimo, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:02 (eighteen years ago)

YEAH POLAR FUCKING BEARS D00D!!

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

Onimo, I got something called "Mucho Macho" edition, it came with the Paradise Island expansion pack. Also the company I used threw in Stronghold. I didn't an instruction manual though.

I don't know the game that well g_kit! I'll have a think. Was thinking no tourism but that would be very boring!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:10 (eighteen years ago)

Also no worries re. polar bears. Didn't mean to sound cranky!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:10 (eighteen years ago)

Harr, I'm an oldskooler; I got Tropico way before Paradise Island, so it's very rare I remember to do the tourism thing anyway. Those darn Yanquis just get in the way and make my (literally) poor Tropicans realise how hard done-by they are!

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:13 (eighteen years ago)

I have no idea what any of you are talking about.

Not that you shouldn't, it's just weird. It seems like you're discussing self-tanning products, but I bet you're not.

accentmonkey, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:19 (eighteen years ago)

Ooooh it is a tricky game! Really looking forwards to playing it now.

Accentmonkey

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

We're exercising our right to talk about video games on the thread that listens.

To tie this all together; some of my friends are talking about self-tanning it up before Glastonbury. What. The. Fuck. ? WAI?? I will never understand.

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

I'd like to be going to Glasto except I'm not really a festival person. Are you going?

I don't think Accentmonkey was complaining about computer game talk!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not a festival person, but I'm going nonetheless.
And yah, I'm sure monkeh wasn't complaining! I was just delighting in the fact that should games be mentioned, nobody complains.

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

You were lucky getting tickets.

I am sad at how ILG never really took off. It did serve the important purpose of warning us of how OMG batshit g23us was!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

Tropico: Gold includes the Paradise Island expansion.

g-kit you seem to attend a lot of festivals for someone who isn't a festival person.

onimo, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:45 (eighteen years ago)

ILG was good & busy, but died a death with nunu-ilx for some reason.

The only festival I actually enjoy is ATP.

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm I was meant to get a strategy guide with this... Ah well, I think it's a cheap version of the game designed for casual picking up.

Score onimo!

I blame bookmarks myself! I love them because I keep an eye on what I'm interested in but unfortunately I forget to check the boards sometimes. Sad but true.

Post lunch crash! So sleepy...

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

plus i never got my mod powers back + no admin log = half the fun of ILG gone

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

+ no gzeus, obv

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha! Wow he was... interesting! Poor Dan.

Also darramouss. I never really got why he was banned.

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:27 (eighteen years ago)

sometimes ILX needs a scapegoat.

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

Well you know that I I I need a miracle I need a miracle

Oh crap. Song stuck in head. Must revive that thread on ILM!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:30 (eighteen years ago)

revive the Barenaked Ladies thread instead!

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:32 (eighteen years ago)

I've not read that thread and I don't think I'll have time to today!

Weather update people? Here it is grey, rainy and cold.

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Same here.

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

It's gone all nice here! Sunny. But the Monkeys are not well. Our heads are full of wool. So we're taking the day off to watch our new DVD of Hot Fuzz instead of working. Smart move, I think you'll agree.

accentmonkey, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:10 (eighteen years ago)

You read me like a book!

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:11 (eighteen years ago)

That sounds pretty good altogether. I liked that film. Actually bought full series of Spaced this weekend. V drunkenly watched it last night. Funny.

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

Mondays suck. :(

No hangover, just tired. sunday spent at in-laws means didn't feel like I got a full weekend.

I think some of the splinterboards: ILG, ILHoops, ILBooks, etc. can take away from some good talk here. Whenever I venture over to one of them I feel a bit out of place.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:24 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wow @ in laws. Always tough visiting the other half's family. I'm normally a nervous wreck! It always goes better than expected. So far at least *touch wood*

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

You're right though, if Kit and I kept Tropico talk to ILG none of you would know of it's brilliance and onimo would be game-less. Everyone a winner is you!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks to you lot and your talk of Tropico, my internal jukebox is playing Club Tropicana on repeat - quick! talk about something else!

Guilty_Boksen, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

Ass? Titties? Ass & titties?

Mark C, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

oh god, stop. That's G's favorite album to play when he wants to annoy me.

My in-laws are actually fine but I would love our visits to be about 3 hours, that would perfect. However we stay the entire day and that's still not enough. arrggh. My socialability has limits. We were fortunate though as the bridge near their house got washed out from the heavy rain shortly after we left. His sister and fiancee were forced to stay the night.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:48 (eighteen years ago)

I get on pretty well with my in-laws but you are spot on about the time limit - 3 hours is about right.

Staying with them for Xmas/new year is purgatory, but I manage to agree to it every other year.

x-post: Thanks Mark c. I now have Spinal Tap's Big Bottom on my IJ which is infinitely preferable.

Guilty_Boksen, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:58 (eighteen years ago)

It can be hard because these are of course your partner's parents. Sometimes it's easy to forget that your seeing someone's kid sort of thing. Also you can never criticise the in laws, that way leads to madness!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

Flaming Hot Baked Cheetos. . .not good. :(

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

gee, they sound good...

g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

baked cheetos, yes. Hot things, yes. But somehow artificially hottened neon red cheetos, no.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

We have finished watching Hot Fuzz now. I don't feel any better, but I am wearing mirrored sunglasses, which has to be good, right?

accentmonkey, Monday, 18 June 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

Yes boss! Shakin' it here boss!

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/goss.alan/1967images/cool.gif

onimo, Monday, 18 June 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)

Just like those! They give us 'em free in HMV.

accentmonkey, Monday, 18 June 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

Do they now? *strokes chin* Ach I didn't like it enough to buy it.

Tropico is excellent but soooo slow. By the time my island starts going well the game is nearly over. I kept it going and was about to be deposed by a military coup! Savage.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 08:33 (eighteen years ago)

hai guys.

i totally played my blog game of Tropico last night. I made like 6 pages of notes and obviously didn't have time to write it up proper and upload it, but I reckon I'll get onto it tonight.

g-kit, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:06 (eighteen years ago)

Do they now? *strokes chin* Ach I didn't like it enough to buy it.

They gave us two pairs, so you can certainly have one. Our eyesight is not good enough for either of us to actually wear them in public. Once we have photographed ourselves in them, we will have no further use for them.

I actually really liked the film, even if I didn't laugh at it as much as Mister M did.

G-kit, where is your game blog? Mister M would be keen to read it, I'm sure. He likes a game, if you know what I mean.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, we've gone way over 1,000 posts again. Do we want to start a new thread? Or is this one okay for a while yet?

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

Oooo can I start the new one?

kv_nol, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)

Also many thanks Trish but I'll be fine methinks.

Just been asked to give up a holiday day or two to make up for the fact that they won't hire the right people. Livid. I wouldn't mind but they told me I couldn't carry them over originally. I will probably come in because there's no point in just taking the day for sake of it. I'll be looking at houses in the next couple of months so who is to say that the guilt of sacrificing a day off or two won't mean a lax attitude to early afternoons off. Who am I kidding :(

kv_nol, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a new thread then? I've been up since four am here b/c of some painful lady things. urgh. trying to decide if I should "work from home"

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

okies, Monkehs & anyone who doesn't know my blog & wants to read Tropico silliness should email me up and i'll send you linxors this evening.

g-kit, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:46 (eighteen years ago)

kit you has a rival teh kit!

http://profile.myspace.com/tehkit

onimo, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:55 (eighteen years ago)

Not location specific, no rules and pants are optional - Could this thread be heaven?

Hope that's okay with everyone.
