What if you have more than one?

HI DERE, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

(</harvard>)

HI DERE, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

Then you wouldn't tick English because you can't be "most" adept in more than one thing.

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:48 (nineteen years ago)

then we bow before thee oh mighty gifted one (xp)

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

the subject i was best at in school (in terms of grades) isn't what i'm best at/generally 'do' now...at least i don't think that is the case.

presumably this is true for many others?

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:50 (nineteen years ago)

No, it's the same subject. It's not what I *wanted* to be good in, but it's the thing I always best at.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:51 (nineteen years ago)

Well, certain subjects require less "intelligence" at GCSE level than others, especially stuff like history which is basically a memory test rather than an actual exam.
xp

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:51 (nineteen years ago)

Subject I am best at now is boringly what I do for work, have no academic qualificatios in at all.

ledge, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:52 (nineteen years ago)

re 'causes of 2nd world war paper' i just wrote 'quit living in the past' and walked out OHOHO

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:53 (nineteen years ago)

Otherwise I'd be all "where da philosophy in this poll?!!?".
xp

ledge, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:53 (nineteen years ago)

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

stet, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

Then you wouldn't tick English because you can't be "most" adept in more than one thing.

You can if you are equally bad-ass in more than one thing!

HI DERE, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

What and sociology gets its own entry?

FUK DAT!

xp

ledge, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

Also I have never truly pondered the question "Philosophy: does it fuck?" before.

HI DERE, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:57 (nineteen years ago)

Dude, I got an A* in GCSE history and all I know is that TVA is an abbrevation for "Tennessee Valley Authority". And I had to double-check on how to spell "Tennessee".

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

I only got a C but I remember loads of stuff (the brownshirts were all fags lol).

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

I remember the day the teacher didn't turn up so we smashed six windows and ripped up all the year 10 coursework. Happy days.

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:17 (nineteen years ago)

nearly everything at gcse is a memory test rather than intelligence test!

these days i tend to forget what subjects i actually chose for gcse, let alone what they consisted of.

lex pretend, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:22 (nineteen years ago)

wot's wrong with memory?? memory gets a raw deal these days

gff, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

ha ha that reminds me i...no wait, it's gone again.

philosophy isn't a social science. certainly it has close relationships to the both social and natural sciences, but generally it belongs to the humanities. almost all universities which offer it place philosophy in their humanities curricula.

Mark Clemente, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:33 (nineteen years ago)

i should've included Humanities sorry.

closing date is Monday.

blueski, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

Oh the humanity.

ledge, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

at degree level philsophy is kinda mathsy. well analytic philosophy is anyway.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 21 May 2007 09:57 (nineteen years ago)

Polls nobody notices because they fall off the board quicksmart and end at the weekend: C or D?

I'd have answered Languages given the chance.

Madchen, Monday, 21 May 2007 09:59 (nineteen years ago)

only one person said "music"!!!

Tracer Hand, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:14 (nineteen years ago)

I think I'm most knowledgable in "general social sciences", having studied social history, sociology, practical philosophy, Third World studies plus women's studies. But out of these options I chose sociology.

Tuomas, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:18 (nineteen years ago)

i'm sort of chuffed that i know a lot more about some of these things now than i ever did in college.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:20 (nineteen years ago)

also i like the idea of "hard science" meaning "not the easy stuff"

Tracer Hand, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:20 (nineteen years ago)

who are the geographic three?

blueski, Monday, 21 May 2007 11:11 (nineteen years ago)

A country band from Brixton.

Klaus M. Flanger, Monday, 21 May 2007 11:12 (nineteen years ago)

I would have chosen music but I'm not studying it at all (I chose math)

Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 21 May 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

Only 3 other hard sciencers? guys srsly!
