Vests: C or D

i have several button-up vests but never seem to figure out exactly how to wear them more than occasionally. it's kind of difficult to put together properly with a whole outfit, i think (especially if yr a girl--i find vests either are too boxy at the waist or too small at the chest so it can be hard to really balance)

I wear them when the weather and the occasion warrant them. I doubt they're going to be in style any time soon but I couldn't care less.

I generally do not like them, although a good three piece suit can look quite nice. I doubt they'll fully come back in fashion, because they're one of those things that's always threatening to come back in fashion and never quite does.

oh this is funny b/c i was just talking with my friend/hairdresser the other day about vests coming back into style!! they remind me of grade 9! i might wear one with a tank top, but it has to be the right vest.

They're kind of the thing you'd try once in eighth grade because "Some things that are different are cool, and vests are different, therefore, if I wear a vest I'll be cool!" Wrong.

btw last week i was looking through storage box of clothes for highschool things and i found my nirvana tshirt and i found my multi-coloured scarf top and i found my navy blue unitard and my 70s suede shirt/jacket thing but i did not find my brown corduroy vest :(

I used to wear vests with white puffy pirate shirts as a goth thing. I havent worn one in years!

i think i just wore mine with big tshirts. or blouses that only 13/14 yr old girls in 1988/89 could wear. i srsly had a blouse-like shirt with musical notes and stuff on a panel that covered the buttons. i remember this b/c i'm wearing it AND a vest in that school photo. which i do not have here but which i wld probably post if i did. as a bonus, the school photos month managed to correspond with my short-lived blue eyeliner phase.

Maybe vests do some kind of 10-year fashionable cycle - they were big around 1975 (midwest, so 1974 in the rest of the country)

i have a black vest. i got told i looked "adorable" wearing it earlier in the week, not quite sure how to take that.

I always kind of wished I could pull of the vest/bra only combo like Patti Smith but I'm never even going to try. It would be the height of all folly.

What's even a good way to wear a vest besides w/an oxford or other button-up shirt?

I too occasionally favoured a 'vest' with stupidly huge goth shirt at one time. I still think they can look good on the right person, but that person isn't me.
