seriously. it doesn't look too 'hipster', but neither does it look too retro. well done. not many ppl can pull off that look.

I hate it getting in my coffee and up my nose when I drink beer and itching and I can't stop tugging at it and NONE of my friends have sponsored me.

Of course, I already have a handlebar, so I sort of feel left out of Movember, which is ironic in the Morrisettian sense.

i've just found out i'm apparently not allowed to have a beard at all, having originally thought i was allowed a beard for anything up to half the month in total. time to get the razor out tonight!

To keep it interesting I tried to get some colleagues on board to get a team going this year (and then ask senior mgmt to support us) but even though some said last year they'd join none of them wanted to when reminded. So no scruffy upper lip for me this year

not sure how it is where you are willem, but i feel like, honestly, i know about 3/4 people who work for movember, and a good 50 per cent of guys i know do it.

this would be fine except it's reached a sort of hysteria, with people going more and more crazy about it each year, and it dominating social media etc.

surely there are better ways to help a cause.

I think where I am (Netherlands) this only really started taking off last year. At my work (>1000 employees on site) I was the only one, in my hometown there was definitely more awareness. Yes I can imagine being put off when its presence is as in your face as you describe it to be in your case. Hysteria is definitely not a word that applies to Movember NL, I think, though I do think their FB updates are a bit tiring (where bringing your good cause to the attention of many (in itself entirely justified) is venturing towards hyping up)

this thing is so shit

- moustaches are terrible aesthetically
- making them all "wacky" "lol" "comedy" "fun" makes them even worse
- i am not sponsoring anyone to look either shit or silly for charity. MAKE YOURSELF LOOK NICE then i'll think about it
- except i won't because "sponsor me doing x for charity" is such a stupid thing, leave people alone to donate to their charities of choice as and when they please

and it can't be reiterated enough how shit moustaches look. on everyone. 100% of men. SHAVE.

I don't understand how I could do this when I have a beard/mustache every day of the year. Would I just shave it and then just grow it back?

I hardly notice Movember among my peers but I know of it as a thing through my brother in law. He's in his mid twenties so probably more the demographic. I can't stand being asked to donate to charity for something people are obviously desperate to do anyway. I guy at my last workplace was collecting sponsorship for a Mt Kilimanjaro climb. I told him I wasn't paying for his holiday!

Just went to Byron Burger and they had a Moburger special and one of the waitresses had a painted on moustache and you know what I didn't feel like killling everyone in the place.

I need about 6 months to grow a mustache that looks even remotely acceptable. Damn you swarthy savages!
