I hate reading any kind of fiction, which is why I generally can't abide literature. Nevertheless I love reading factual books.
This is why I know very little about the works of e.g. George Eliot, but know loads about the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Are such polarised reading habits, in the words of Tom Jones, "not unusual"? Or do most people have a more balanced reading diet?

i mean i certainly read more non-fiction if only because it matches up with my interests better and because i don't like most contemporary fiction but i sure wouldn't want to live in a world without "gatsby," p.g. wodehouse, mark twain, "don quixote," or even dr. seuss.

I read more non-fiction I think (though I read fiction more for work). Novels fuck with my brain sometimes, which scares me.
