Crispin would be too stilted for Joker's manic phases. I don't think he knows how to say more than 15 words per minute.

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

oh right christian slater obviously.

nickalicious, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

Freddy Mercury

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

2. Tim Carey

You mean Tim Curry, from the Rocky Horror Show?

snoball, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

Cesar Romero

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

Tim Curry looks like potato these days.

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

Or how about:

http://www.subcin.com/smoking.jpg

Cass would have been a great Joker

Joe, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

will arnett is the correct answer.

POV actors who would make the most terrible Joker:

1. Will Forte

nickalicious, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

Tim Carey is different than Tim Curry:

Willem Defoe supposedly was considered by Tim Burton before he went with Nicholson, still wouldn't mind seeing him in the role.

Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

sorry, Dafoe

Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

OMG SNORG OTM

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

dafoe already did the green goblin or whateverthefuck.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

Robin Williams would be a terrible Joker - I can see people actually walking out of the cinema.

Tim Carey is different than Tim Curry:

OK, thanks - I'd never heard of him. I thought that Joe might have got mixed up with Tim Curry, or Jim Carrey, who played The Riddler.

So in that case, Tim Curry - back when he was thinner.

snoball, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

Night of the Iguana-era Ava Gardner.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

Dr Morbius

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

more votes for Crispin

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

OMG Alan Cumming! I have Discovered It.

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

who said an actor can only star in one nerd franchise? if Patrick Stewart, Hugo Weaving and Ian McKellan can do it, why not Dafoe?

Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

1: Tim Curry
2: Richard E Grant
3: Jack Lemmon
4: John Malkovich maybe as an older Joker
5: and an off the wall suggestion, Keith Richards

snoball, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

no Brits

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

Malkovich is only a couple years older than Nicholson was when he took the role, fwiw.

Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

Why would you want old Joker when he's just getting out of Arkham IIRC in next movie?

Abbott, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

Well not for the next movie, because the Joker's going to be much younger in that. But in a hypothetical Batman movie I was thinking that Malkovich would give a different kind of performance as a middle aged Joker, compared to Jack Nicholson's version.

snoball, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

Richard Widmark, people!

Oilyrags, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

im so glad they're not going for any of these wacky suggestions for the next one. crispin glover? come on.

s1ocki, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

1. Katie Holmes
2. Michael Keaton (no really)
3. Richard Mulligan (flopsweat personified)
4. Ray Liotta
5. Andrew Dice Clay

Dr. Superman, Monday, 29 October 2007 19:53 (eighteen years ago)

Widmark is a good choice

Joe, Monday, 29 October 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

So is Katie Holmes

Joe, Monday, 29 October 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

michael keaton would be a great choice!

s1ocki, Monday, 29 October 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

Fred Willard as AARP-approved Joker.

nickalicious, Monday, 29 October 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

isabelle doesn't look so healthy.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

I was gonna be all "fuck you, slocki, you know crispin glover would rule" but I saw him give an eerily hinged role in this awful straight-to-DVD movie Drop Dead Sexy and have no guarantee that he would bring the noise.

da croupier, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

but as long as they had the hair, facepaint and grin, I'd watch any actor play the Joker

da croupier, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

michael keaton has been sucking wind in a straight-to-dvd land too

da croupier, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:57 (eighteen years ago)

isabelle doesn't look so healthy.

ORLY?

I think David Gest would be a perfect choice. So much money saved on make-up. He looks like a campy Jack Nicholson.

stevienixed, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:58 (eighteen years ago)

William H Macy would probably bring some unexpected squrimy shit to the table

Not manic, but maybe maniacal: Clive Owen.

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 31 October 2007 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

I think Jackie Chan would be great, as long as he stuck to his usual
persona (versus actually trying to act the Bad Guy, which would suck), that would be pretty f'ed.
