bell_labs, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Is cannabis getting stronger/worse isn't this something that would be controlled by legalisation?

Jarlrmai, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

Also they must use it when they come up with the names.

Mark Clemente, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

The documentary, "Should I Smoke Dope?" can be seen on BBC3 on Wednesday 26 March at 2200.

max, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

Yes I'm getting a little fed up of the BBC using "news" articles to promote shows.

Everday the science/nature bit was basically an advert for Life In Cold Blood.

Jarlrmai, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

oh BBCpaws

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

srsly if i was being injected with pure thc by some stranger in an amsterdam lab i'm not sure i wouldn't be pacing in my padded room too

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

I saw the programme she did where she got pissed every night for a month. This sounds like a right load of old bollocks though.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

i was once offered a dose of pharmaceutical-grade ketamine to be administered to me via syringe in my flat while my reactions were videotaped for the next couple of hours. this was a guy i'd met in a pub. he said the last guy he did this to had been married with kids and started freaking out and thinking his kids were dead. i was like "sign me up" but then he never showed for the appointment.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

wow! what this women needs to do is to sign up for some lsd experiments. that'll straighten her right out.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

An annoying article - after the sensationalism of being injected with thc (which proves/establishes what?)...

"...she said a sober public debate was needed about cannabis, as there was growing evidence that it had potentially useful medical applications."

Also what about the liberatarian arguments, rather than just simply 'potentially useful medical applications'?

She sounds a bit moronic - in which case smoking dope for her results in 'garbage in, garbage out'.

Bob Six, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, she was undeserving of all that free weed

carne asada, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

Nicky Taylor, from Kidderminster, took part in the experiment in Amsterdam, where the drug is legal.
Isn't it like Amsterdam 101 that it ISN'T legal? lol BBC fact checkers.

Hooray for coming from Kidderminster though.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

I think I find this, her alcohol experiment, and Morgan Spurlock's antics to be of the same ilk.

The hallmark of a person who integrates into society - any society - is that there is some measure of moderation to what they engage in, be it work, drugs, sex, fashion, etc.

By devoting an entire month to just getting pissed, or high, you are automatically placing yourself as an outlier, and therefore trivializing, at least to some degree, any insight your experiment might yeild.

Smoking weed everyday for a month made you feel like an idiot? Really.
Getting drunk every night was bad for your health? No shit.
Eating McDonalds for every meal for a month turns your liver into fois gras? Woah.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 March 2008 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

I smoked weed for a month and it felt great!

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

i've been going strong for a decade now and i havemt... *falls asleep*

carne asada, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

^^^ Knew someone would post this.

Bodrick III, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

ha! i resisted for awhile

carne asada, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, don't get me wrong...I would LOVE to disconnect in a major way and smoke weed all day long, everyday....but then I would be much more likely to be a) broke b) fat c) divorced and d) unemployed.

Moderation, yo. Not abstinence.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 March 2008 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

^ i can verify this
