Here's one from dad just now:

Was that you singing? Are you getting back to your music? I don't understand your music. I look to more conventional music. I like country the best now. About 85 % of the country prefers country and western. Why do you have web sites featuring art work. Why don't those people have their own web sites.

He's like a proto-ILXor.

My mom is a burgeoning name-dropper (she is in a chamber chorus):

Our recording sessions have ended for a while.......as our
producer is off to tour with Alan Parsons.

I just searched my mail and every single one from my dad is about Christmas presents for members of my family.

I don't think my mum and dad would ever use emails outside of work. And they're only 51 and 56.

My dad likes to make up statistics too.

One time, after he completely made something up again, I did the cheesy "You know Dad, 50% of all statistics are made up on the spot" line. He thought about it for a second, nodded, and said "Hmm. I've heard that before somewhere."

sigh

My dad also claims that he saw the president of China on live morning TV, and the president revealed his plan to gradually take over the world by having so many babies. It made me long for a world in which world leaders reveal their secret plans for global domination openly, preferably on Good Morning America.

Internet marketing can be rather volatile. Hires and fires happen pretty regularly. They are pretty dependent on the economy. Wach out!!

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 29 March 2008 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

My dad and some of his colleagues, including younger colleagues in their late 30s or so, had a discussion about what the internet acronym "LOL" stood for. One of the younger ones thought it meant "Lots of love" so the older ones believed it. My dad later asked me about this and I told him his colleagues were wrong and what it really meant. So as a private joke he ends all the emails he sends to me he signs off with LOL.

My dad shot a moose last year and he's still talking about the damn thing.

If you haven't already tried the hormone free, free range moose, you might want to try it with some seasonings like mexican. Its a little gamey.

I Want to Change the Way The Site Looks... (libcrypt), Monday, 10 November 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

My dad has sent me the email that is a perfect example of his emails:

Attached you will find your amortization table. The rate went from 6% to 5% on 10/30. Between the two loans it will save us about $3,000 over the next year. Look at the two tabs that account for the two interest rates. Check the turkey I shot too. It was the best wild game I've ever killed. I think it is better than the turkey you buy in the store. Quite expensive though $20 for a tag makes the meat about $6 a lb. Gonna go after a Tom next year I think.

Attached is a photo of my dad looking far too robust for a 54-year-old-man, in a field, in camo, holding a dead female turkey and a gun.

My mom says, in a different email. subject: aunt pats "house"

i forwarded this to you about your aunt Pat"s problem that she has ben in the hospital for about 10 days now trying to figure out i know that her calcium levels are high, and she was peeing clear

"house" meaning like the show starring a cantankerous doctor presented with baffling cases.

It's yer Daddee! You didn't call me back, but that's OK. Listen, maybe you ought to attend church Sunday. What do ya think? Love, Dad.
