Spring Has Sprung!!!

I know this as my nose is running and I can't stop sneezing!

So, anyway, Spring: CoD?

jel --, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh it's just great, today I'm in the happiest mood I've been in in ages, things are bloody fantastic at thhe moment, I'm sorry to be so bleeding cheerful but hey, it's not that often.

This morning I was walking to work suitably late, the sun was shining, warming my left side. Not a cloud in the sky. Then Jenny Ondioline came on my headphones and I felt as if I'd been lifetd by the shoulders and was being carried to work. Bliss.

chris, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh yeah, I agree Chris, my walk to work along the Grand Union canal was charming this morning (apart from my runny nose!). The ducks are nesting and the Heron was fishing as usual, and the Seagulls have gone!

jel --, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am hung over and my lungs feel diseased. Otherwise yeah - spring la la.

N., Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hungover? you lightweight.

chris, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yes it is SPRING!! i saw my first bee of the year the other day and the air smells fresh and alive (even in stinky old Ilford) and HURRAH!!!

katie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Even my stone cold curmudgeonly heart is feeling grudgingly happy. However, I note I have failed to haf become thin in time for summer, as I vowed last year, and in fact every year since I was 14, CHIZ.

Sarah, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Even being stuck in a tube tunnel for 20 minutes hasn't taken away my spring-like bounce. I had rasberries for breakfast. I have no hangover.

Anna, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's too light in the mornings. Sorry to be a dumper on Spring but it means the onset of summer which is bad.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(oh and Autumn has Arrived!!! for the Southern Hemisphere!)

jel --, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am hungover becuause when I got home my flatmate was celebrating his third place victory with the bottle of champagne they gave him and then I had more beer and there was some funny cigarette too. LEAVE ME ALONE.

N., Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

BOING!

Ed, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I carried on drinking when I got home too N. Flatmate was celebrating nnothing special but had cracked open the wine.

chris, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's lovely and sunny, there are no students on campus, I have little work to do and all day to do it in, I was luxuriously late this morning and I'm going on holiday on thursday to the Kintyre peninsula.

SPRING IS HERE, SPRING IS HERE, LIFE IS SKITTLES AND LIFE IS BEER.

misterjones, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's sunny and ever closer to summer when I can leave this stinking excuse for an education. I have to "pass" first though.

Ronan, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You sound really fucked off with your course, Ronan. Is it just a matter of getting on with it until it gets better, or is there something you can do about it?

Spring - me too with the hay fever. I saw ducklings today, and sat out in the sun drinking coffee at the library. Used to hate the summer; first sound of a suburban lawnmower threw me into a melodramatic depression. Now spring = wondering what annuals to put in the pots in the yard, and contemplating arrangements for doing marking outside to take advantage of what sun we get.

Ellie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not sure.....

There's a good chance I'm just an idiot and I'd hate whatever formal education was served up to me and find fault with it.

But at the moment I'm thinking, get through these next 6 weeks, then maybe take a year out next year. I'm even considering changing next year, perhaps to a pure politics degree. Gah I dunno, it's a nightmare at the moment. I mean I'm not sad or annoyed 24/7 or anything, it's more just perpetual boredom, but I'm just doing the bare minimum and not going to stuff all week, basically living for the weekend or any other chances I have to go out. And just to make it all funny, I'm writing more than I ever have.......FOR NOTHING!

It's a question of muddling through to the summer and then trying to decide if I would enjoy anything else more, and generally reassessing my er.......situation.

Er.....essay over. I DO like Spring honestly.

Ronan, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Spring is the classicest classic thing! I walked for an hour and a half this morning from Chelsea to Roehampton, taking in the Thames, Beverley Brook and Putney common, all in beautiful sunshine. I felt fantastic, I smiled at pretty girls, I drank apricot juice, and I even bumped into my neighbour outside the boathouses near Putney Bridge. I felt fucking *wonderful*.

Mark C, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We don't have spring in Texas. Or fall.

Samantha, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Er.....essay over - don't be daft; I asked. Summer for reassessment sounds sensible. By summer I should've finished the prrtemlesnslep [cannot be named] and will also have to face The Future. See, spring brings joys, but also questions...

Ellie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"the air smells fresh and alive (even in stinky old Ilford)"
My God, all those fumes from the A406 must be affecting your BRANE!

DG, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you have a point DG, but for once the pavement round the corner from the station DIDN'T smell so much of piss that i had to hold my breath... this can only mean TIDINGS OF SPRING!

katie, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Question: Would you rather fall in love, or springboard into love? THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Mandee, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i want to triple salchow with twist into love

chris, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Does that involve falling, or springboarding? I'm dumb.

Mandee, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it means jumping, looking graceful and landing perfectly, make of it what you will.

chris, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it's snowing over here.

geeta, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mmmm... Skittlebrau

electric sound of jim, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

falling vs springboarding: what's the difference?

this is a real question, not a rhetorical one.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Classic! Tho it's been snowing since Friday.

Maria, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you are all quite obviously mad or hallucinating. the crisp breeze and falling leaves clearly indicate that it is AUTUMN and NOT SPRING. sillies.

petra jane, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

First two days of spring gave us 6 inches of snow.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Is anyone else suffering from excruciating hayfever? I don't usually suffer at all, but for the last two weeks have had really itchy eyes, blocked ears, headaches etc etc. And it's not even as if Kentish Town is a particularly verdant suburb of London! What a swizz.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I used my grill for the first time last weekend. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

My work had a cook-out yesterday and they thought to make me Boca burgers! Afterwards, we had an easter egg hunt. I didn't find any, but lots of people gave me their candy.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I get hayfever a bit (also dust allergy, I'm sure, which is bad luck in a crappy town like this). However, I seem to have no reason to leave the house, so it doesn't pose a current threat.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:41 (twenty-three years ago)

no hayfever yet! yay!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:45 (twenty-three years ago)

And Saturday I get my first wiffleball/beer drinking/bbq of the year at my friends house. I can't wait.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I just had my first ice cream of the year!

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I eat ice cream all year long!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

That is because you live somewhere warm all year long! It's too cold to eat an ice cream in the UK during winter. Your teeth would freeze.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I wore my mesh tanktop and Speedos today!

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I eat Ice cream all year long!

chris (chris), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I wear mesh tank tops all year long!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

During the winter, I eat oranges as a treat to keep up my vitamin C. I have now switched to plums.

kate, Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I eat mesh tank tops and wear icecream all year long!

(haha eating plums. sorry)

Emma, Thursday, 27 March 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe it is chemical weapons not hayfever Stevie :/

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Let me say something about Spring, though...

It sucks!

EVERYTHING SUCKS!

I feel better now. Possibly.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I suck all year long!

But seriously, the trees outside my office window are SO pretty - covered in little white flowers...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, I just have major humbugs that have nothing to do with Spring. Spring is okay, except for the being allergic to the sun bit.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

There's mad bird shit all over my freshly washed car! Spring has sprung!

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I get some sort of major allergy/sinus headache problem every spring, so I'm not looking forward to that -- but everything else rules.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

your all sniffly fuckers ain't ya.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't come the cowboy with me, Sonny Jim.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone ever find themselves with tissues crammed up their nostrils when they have a runny nose and trying to sleep.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Not up my nostrils Chris.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Once or twice I've resorted to that desperate measure.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks Nick. great visual.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I suck all year long!
But seriously, the trees outside my office window are SO pretty - covered in little white flowers...

-- Sarah McLusky (x77tigersxu...), March 27th, 2003. (later)

Oh. my. god. I can't believe no one commented on the first part of this.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 27 March 2003 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

There's mad bird shit all over my freshly washed car!

Um, that's not a seasonal thing.

But the crocuses are out and the daffodils will be out soon!

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 27 March 2003 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Spring has sprung = humans the world over put their problems aside and unite under the Universal Flag of Horniness

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 27 March 2003 18:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Horny Flag search

oops (Oops), Thursday, 27 March 2003 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

The Sniffy Fuckers! They were great, "Snot Bucket" is one of my favourite albums of all time!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 27 March 2003 18:20 (twenty-three years ago)

That's gross! (Unlike the thought of me in a mesh tank-top and a Speedo, seductively licking an ice-cream cone).

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't know if it's hayfever per se, but I'm suffering from something. Fortunately, the CA weather is a bit better for my sinuses than FL (where I'm currently burrowed into).

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Is anyone else suffering from excruciating hayfever? I don't usually suffer at all, but for the last two weeks have had really itchy eyes, blocked ears, headaches etc etc.

Me too, ever since it started getting warm. I keep thinking I'm coming down with bronchitis too, but it's just intermittent bouts of severe coughing. I think I was meant to live in Alaska or on the moon.

Awww, how cute!

I have a pic of my son that is really almost identical to that. In a field, smiling, wearing overalls, blonde super-soft toddler hair...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 27 March 2003 19:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I get this vision of Nickalicious having been captured by Bush or something in a Donkey Kong Jr. scenario and Toddlericious dodges metal jaw monsters to rescue him. Or maybe I'm just amused by the idea of Nickalicious in a case stomping every so often and growling.

Spring has recoiled!!!

buttch (Oops), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah totally. It's barely 50 friggin degrees fahrenheit out right now. Barely. I had done the big wardrobe-shift (getting out the shorts/short-sleeves/etc., packing away the sweaters/wool pants/etc.) and had to dig back in the back of my closet for a decent sweater this morning.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 14:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, nature's being a big tease. I already put away my thick corduroy comforter, but I woke up in the middle of the night w/the chills. According to the forecasts though, today should be the last sub-60 day for me (and I assume for you too). Yay! Drunken BBQ's here I come...

buttch (Oops), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

It's nice here today. A little chilly, but fine with my cardigan. And tomorrow I get to run lots of errands for work and be out and about.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 23 April 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

SNOWSTORM in WI. I'm looking forward to Saturday because the HIGH is 50, you assholes.

Jordan, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

Man, it's starting to get depressing, it's about 70 in London.

I want your weather east coast USA!!!!! But at least I can take some solace in the sometime fact that Britain gets New York's weather a few weeks later, just gotta hope for a nice westerly flow.

jel --, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

Two weeks ago I felt spring, but then two skinheads kicked me in the face and now my jaw is broken. But it will probably fix itself to when spring actually comes, making me appreciate it so much more. Hey its pretty warm outside: +8C, and it's supposed to go up to +20C this very weekend!
