Saturday I'm going to Orbital. It's all going to be great fun but I'm not in the humour really.
― Ronan, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Yeah Chris I am looking forward to it, however it is odd because it's both of them doing a DJ set. The venue is brand new though and so the sound is really something. I promise myself I won't scream "PLAY CHIIIIME" but you never know.
And thanks for the B+ Ellie, round this way we'd be discussing the various meanings of "humour" and how it has been appropriated by George Bush, Kofi Annan and the twelve foot lizards.
This year, I'm in London as work needs to be done to finish off my 'doing up the house' project. This will be combined with family stuff, a mega record shopping trip, a day or so in Greenwich with friends, 6-nations Rugby, and the first A Nation Mourns band rehearsal for 15 years!

Chris, is the Camera Obscura gig that Pow! To The People T+F thing at the Monarch on Easter Sunday because if so, I'm going to that too. Not to see Camera Obscura, I hasten to point out, but because my girlfriend's band, Riviera, are also playing there.
Other than that, my plans for Easter involve on Saturday going to a restaurant because it's my birthday on Tuesday (eeep! first time my parents are meeting my girlfriend! eeep!)

Drinking with friends Thursday and possibly Friday, depending on Brian's schedule, subbing at King's Chapel AGAIN Saturday night, singing at Newton Presbytarian Sunday morning followed by a lurvely Easter brunch with more friends that will feature evil mimosas. (Evil mimosa = mimosa + TRIPLE SEC and VODKA.)

Yeah, I noticed you guys thanked The Lucksmiths on yer album (which I think is goood, btw). We've been on tour with those guys recently, too. Ah, the ker-azy hazy incestuous world of indiepop.

The whole Passion of Christ thing mixed up with the obv pagan spring equinox celebration (the Blood Sacrifice of the Lamb of God vs. baby bunnies and fuzzy yellow chicks) gives the whole holiday a crazy vibe. There's too much symbolism crammed into it and it all expires for lack of air.
I lost all interest as soon as I stopped getting small gifts and candy.

Easter is boring since I moved to the States
my family used to give each other giant chocolate eggs; here all we do is buy a bag of Easter-themed m&ms maybe...plus there's no long weekend holiday or anything, it suxors

Does anyone wanna talk about Easter? The weird pop folk iconography surrounding anthropomorphist bunnies and their addiction to chocolate eggs? That time Jesus died and came back and what that means? Modern Christianity as death cult? Isn't it weird that "Good Friday" is a legal holiday commemorating the public death and torture of an anti-authoritarian figure?
― ©Oz Quiz© (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 1 April 2015 19:03 (eleven years ago)
mum wasnt super religious but she acted like the fking pope at easter, always found it a bit weird
luckily she only made us go to church a few times. easter church always sucked bcz no good songs, i haaaaated it
we'd always try to bargain what else we could have besides fish, my brother made a v convincing case the inclusion of dim sims but alas
― difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 1 April 2015 19:53 (eleven years ago)
My mom is super into crafts and holidays and stuff so we always did baskets of candy and painting eggs and stuff. This year we are using it as an excuse to get together the family for a cookout it will be a nice break from the city!
One time I was sleeping at my grandma's place and got up to use the restroom and I swear to God I saw a giant Easter bunny who was like glowing lights jumping down the hall. It must have been a dream but felt incredibly real. Never went to a church service.

I liked almost as much as I liked Christmas growing up. My parents would always hide my basket in ridiculous places. One year my mom put one converse under the grass and made me go find the other. That was p much the best Easter. When I was in college my dad dragged me outside in my pajamas and made me start searching the yard. Figuring I was too old for a basket and a poor student, he'd hid money all around the backyard. Mostly ones but also some 10s and 20s. lol. We did go to church every year and would then have a big dinner with family friends.
― Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Thursday, 2 April 2015 12:24 (eleven years ago)
Don't be mean to Eddie! >:o
;)
We went to Portugal one year and were there on Easter Sunday. My mom went out looking for a basket and stuff to fill it with but could only find the big giant UK type eggs in a box. She got me one and I was so confused. Where's the basket? What's this thing? Etc.
