I had a terrible dream and now the sadness won't leave me.

Last night I had a terrible dream that my friend died, and in the dream I was so sad that I felt like I was going to die too. I put her glasses on and I wouldn't let anyone touch me and I realised that nobody has ever meant so much to me.

When I woke up I was crying for real, and the sadness has not left me all day.

I can't call her, she has moved to Indiana to be an optics physicist at the university there. I don't know her new number yet.

How can I start feeling better?

hey rainy , i have been haunted of late by my dreams , they seem to match all these odd cultural events and personal tragedies and this delicate overlay of meloncholy , alomst like lace inset on a funeral gown.

Maybe you could be cheered up by the intensity of your love for your friend, that you care about her so much that a depressing dream can ruin your day? Something like that. Hope your feeling a little more upbeat today, Rainy. Or is it still today there?

What's really depressing is when you have a kick-ass, freewheeling, sunshine & flowers sort of dream about a friend/loved one, and you wake up and remember that they're dead.

Have you been able to contact your friend yet, rainy?

I am having prophetic dreams lately. Hmmm.

Dont fear, Optics is a very safe field in physics.

I ate some porridge and that kind of made me feel temporarily okay, and then I got email from my friend and that made me happy again.

Hurrah! :-) But yeah, a dream like that would be most distressing. One time I dreamt my mom had died -- *that* was utterly miserable.
