I've sent you two e-mails, one to yr btconnect account and the other to your netcomuk account, have ya got them? They concern the 102 Beats This and the C90 Go! Sorry about the list abuse everyone.

powertonevolume, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

he is in france = he has stuffed his ears with snails = he cannot hear you.

jess, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tom ewing, can you hear me? can you feel me near you?

ethan, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thanks. Bloody French etc rant etc.

powertonevolume, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When do they get back anyway?

Graham, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Spiritualized should start doing the song this way on tour, then I would buy tickets for sure.*

*since I have to cough up a lot more tuition money, not sure if I should be spending money on any concert-type thingies.

Nicole, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What, did they spring a huge price increase on you for school? Suckage.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought for a moment this would be a Tom loves Barbra thread...oh well.

Queen G, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When do they get back anyway?

Not that I care, you understand.

Graham, Saturday, 30 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

WE'RE BACK!!!

Tom prolly not back at his computer til tuesday though. lovely time had by all etc, also large list of questions to ask ILE written on back of jaffa cake box in Tom's posession, some fact-based, some opinion-based, mmmmmmmmm, marmite chicken...

CarsmileSteve, Sunday, 31 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are all the actual questions to do with marmite chicken?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 31 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You decadent englishmen rolling arround the south of france like zelda and scott . Was there gin and sodden sex ?

anthony, Sunday, 31 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

HIYA STEVE!!! Did you speke FRENCH and eat les legs de... frogs? Bugger it, my A* in French GCSE has gone right down le pissoir. You lot had better haf sent POSTCARDS for me to see on my return to the METROPOLIS.

Sarah, Sunday, 31 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

grinwee

mark s, Sunday, 31 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mark S. has finally perfected his lethal Smile-Piss Technique.

Dan Perry, Monday, 1 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

not all the questions refer to marmite chicken, but most of them are somewhat influenced by the amount of BOUZE drank over the week. I didn't have any frog's legs, but we did eat almost ALL THE OTHER FOOD in france, and we are all big fat bloaters as a result... oh and it was normandy, not the south of france btw.

CarsmileSteve, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My belly am be big. Whelks and tripe and pork belly and solidified coq au vin fat jelly. Num num.

Pete, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When I went to see my mum and dad on my return from the git they were very proud of the amount I ate and drank. I did the family name proud. However now I am gazing in utter despair at the vast expanse of my belly. My jeans which were falling off me are no longer falling off me but sit snugly in place, held there by cheese and cakes and rillettes and steak frites.

Emma, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't get into my email grr.

I think the list of questions is at Isabel's. It's probably not a good idea to post them all here anyway.

Tom, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I knew it. You should've let me cover the list with bicarb of soda and feed it to the pigeons.

Here's a swift reminder: Whatever happened to Phil Cool?

Emma, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pigeons, seagulls, whatever.

Emma, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Did you lot spend your whole holiday gossiping about INTERWEB MENTALISTS!?!?!?!

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yes, mainly you (only kidding)...

CarsmileSteve, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I FEEL SO LOVED!!!!!

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ha ha we were all far too busy eating & drinking to pause to take breath for talking, esp. about interweb mentalists.

Emma, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bet you still used MORSE CODE by pressing buttons with yr LARDY TOES.

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This is of course the normal form of communication in FURRIN LANDZ.

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

WHAT? What are you on about? Anyway we were too busy using our feet to dance happily to use them to tap buttons.

Emma, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The phrase "Pressing buttons with yr LARDY TOES" must be used in a song someday.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Welcome back and happy birthday Tom, sorry I didn't post on your birthday thread but I kept putting it off while you were away in the hope of remembering how to say something interesting in French, or something Moominy in Finnish.

(I wonder if I could learn enough Finnish to survive on my own by the summer so I could go to Koneisto or something, hmm... I suppose learning Spanish would be a lot easier for me and Sonar is probably cooler than Koneisto anyway, but I don't want to know Spanish or go to Spain. Hmmmm. And as far as I know there are no Spanish bands as cool as Aavikko or Karkkiautomaatti or Ovuca, and no Spanish words as nice as nuuska or kahvitauko or kiskobussi. Er, anyway. Back to pretending to be doing work when in fact I can't remember what I'm supposed to be doing and the file's locked anyway so I can't do it so I've just been wasting time and drinking Pepsi all afternoon.)

rebecca, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

now tom, do you like barbra streisand?

Queen G, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes we're all back now. Being in Normandy with your mates is GRATE and being back at work is NOT. Can hanging around on ILE possibly compensate?

alext, Wednesday, 3 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Only if you read it whilst scoffing runny cheese and swigging cheap bouze. Even then it's a poor second.

Emma, Wednesday, 3 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ILM Service Announcement: "powertonevolume is now in a cream puff due to lack of responsage".

powertonevolume, Saturday, 6 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But what DID happen to Phil Cool?

Ally C, Saturday, 6 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

three months pass...
Tom - I have sent an article for FT to you. I dunno if the BTconnect address is the right one so cd you pls confirm if you got it? Sorry to hassle, but I'm having a few e-mail glitches this end too. Ta!

Dr. C, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks Dr C..

I've been away from home and computer for lots of this week due to a four-day meeting at work (now thankfully concluded) so I haven't replied to anyone. David H I did get your article, Dr C I've not seen yours yet but I've not checked since Wednesday night.

Tom, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom E - can you hear me? What did you think of my grebt proposal?

the pinefox, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PF in ILEspeak shockah! Best thing EVAH!

Tim, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom, I've been trying to call you for the past hour! Are you ignoring me, sweetie?

Luv, http://www.anitaroddick.com/images/mug.jpg

Anita-kins Snugglebunny, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Funnily enough, I seem to have a memory of 'grebt' an old familiar, like 'grate' (which I've always used). But I don't know whether this is a False Memory (so 90s).

the pinefox, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom Ewing Can You Hear Me was the best selling charity record of 2021, featuring the Bee Gees, Will Smith, and the Prodigy, whose new album was due for release the same week.

Ronan, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheers Tom. I think I sent it Thursday morning.

Dr. C, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom - I sent you an e-mail over the weekend, I'm not sure that it'll get through as I've been tweaking it because it is jiggered (mark s will attest to this) so either you've got none e-mail or three copies of three e-mails. (Did you get it, basically? The final version that is.)

TOM - URGENT AND KEY - SCRUB MY FOCUS GROUP COMMENTS, I JUST READ THEM OVER AND THEY ARE TWUNT. SO SCRUB THEM, PLEASE. IF I GET TIME, I'LL WRITE SOME MORE. OR IF THERE ARE ANY WHICH YOU THINK ARE ALRIGHT KEEP THEM. BUT THE OTHER ONES SCRUB THEM. KEEP THE SCORES, BUT THE COMMENTS: SCRUB THEM.

david h (david h), Saturday, 28 September 2002 09:56 (twenty-three years ago)

keep the scores and scrub the comments? no offense, but that's really lame. if you wrote something memorable, they'll be more worthwhile than most of the focus group comments. if you wrote something unmemorable, everyone will forget about it anyway.

artiste, Saturday, 28 September 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Focus group comments have often been stupid Dave so don't worry.

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 28 September 2002 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

dave your post implies that tom will actually get round to putting up the focus group before the next one happens ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 29 September 2002 08:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't wait for the focus group, and finding out how out of step I am with the general consensus! I gave Enrique 8 points!

Tom I have a Boards Of Canada story pitch for Freaky Triggah. Would you be interested, and if so, where should I send it?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 04:24 (twenty-three years ago)

send it to [email protected] please!

is it fan fiction????? :)

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 11:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Fan fic = possibly.

Anyway it's sent.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not convinced that Boards Of Canada slash is really what FT needs, personally.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

BORDES OF CANADA BATTLE HORDES OF CANIBLES!

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 18 December 2002 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Marcello that sounds like a Paul Barman lyric.

And Martin you couldn't be more wrong!

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Ethan's contribution here is the funniest post I've ever seen on ILE I think.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, to fan fic! As long as swimming rat makes another comeback!

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

WHERE'S THE SUPPOSED UPDATE POOING?

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes.

Postponed.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

(I'm not promising anything but if work goes OK it should be up on Sunday.)

Tom (Groke), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

anthony easton (anthony), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, tATu aren't coming near your shores till about next Wednesday, so.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 24 January 2003 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

including tom's top 20 of 1997? ;)

zebedee, Friday, 24 January 2003 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Not including any top 20s :( - it needs about 4 hours work to finish, 4 hours which I havent got until Tuesday. My postings here are mostly snatches while waiting for hong kong mobile phone sites to load some interminable fucking flash graphic.

I need to revive this thread (and the great subtitle, one of my favourite ILX posts) to ask, Tom what email do you use these days, just anxious to ask you about EMP and NYLPM and STUFF if you have a spare minute, for my thesis.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 12 May 2005 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe he says freakytrigger @ gmail.com will do the trick.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 May 2005 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes freakytrigger at gmail, ask away.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 12 May 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

strng hlkngtn, Friday, 10 June 2005 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Without the beard Tom has lost all of his superpowers.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

See??? BEARDS ARE POWER.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

But they're evil superpowers, magicks that shouldn't be messed with.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

tom--you still owe me a couple of emails and the genius of cowboy troy shall be unleashed soon?

"Meine Schlange hat viel Durst..."

Die Emanzipation von Baaderonixx (redukt) (Fabfunk), Friday, 10 June 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Lack of beard means an increase in other areas of power, so let there be love. (Let me also get back into the FT swing of posting. Argh, I hate the end of quarter crunch.)
