1. We will be convening at 2 in the Glasshouse Stores but will not be leaving the GHS until we've got ten contestants - so stop by there first if you're planning to play or spectate from the start.

2. The first pub on the crawl proper will be the SPICE OF LIFE. So if there's nobody in the GHS then that's where we'll all be.

3. Bring your friends!

U & K: Where is the Spice of Life?

jel --, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This years crawl has been designed for maximum variety of beer and surroundings. Since variety was the theme it is obvious why we are starting in the Spicer (also I want to give it a looksee since its refurb, and its opposite the site for the new Fopp's in London).

Pete, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have been trying to invite Laura all week, but phones are evil things (and I don't have her number).

Graham, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

's near Camridge circus innit?

The other day we passed the (ooh, memory don't fail me now) Tom Cobb (sign was a boxer) kind of round the back of the comedy store and that Japanese department store. Any info on that one, it looked ok, but didn't seem to have any hand-pulls.

Also went past the ring the other day while on the bus, it doesn't look much like a pub any more :O(

Spice of Life, Romilly St.

Tim, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris I reviewed that pub for Pumpkin Pubs way back in the day - it's not too bad.

Tom, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

See the publog for discussions on both the newly refurbed Lamb and a previous piece on the Tom Cribb (Tom used to drink there after work a fair bit - are you collecting boxing themed pubs Cabbage?)

Pete, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It does seem that way doesn't it (and hives an idea for a pub crawl one day???) but no, I just remember the Ring from when you lot first started going on about it last year, whereas the Tom Cribb was just passed the other day.

Thanks for reminding me of pumpkinpublog though, I like going there for a read every now and then.

chris, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I only drank there a few times, it's a bit tiny and has stripped-pine decor as I recall which isn't a great favourite.

Tom, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm, pubs. I was going to go to the continental for a fry-up but I feel I may go and finally give the William the Fourth down the road a try out now they've got their own brewery on-site.

chris, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris we are always looking for new publog contributors - and it would strike me that you would be eminently eligible. E-mail if you fancy occasionally contributing.

Pete, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, and shall I take it that none of you other publoggers know the answer to my question re: londons official landlady?

Sarah, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sure there's more than 1 Rising Sun in the whole city, Sarah and they don't mean the one on TCR.... but to be honest I don't really know.

Emma, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In fact as they seem to be referring to the City with capital C I have found 2 likely candidates on Fancy A Pint, perhaps it's one of those?

Emma, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

due to unforseen circumstances I am in toronto for another month (should have arrived in london by today).

hope you all have a good time (and hopefully the weather will hold up).

Julio Desouza, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't give a stuff about ver weather. I'll be in the pub.
