Yes, regularly washing is best, make sure you get your face right under the shower. T-Zone Tea tree oil spot zapping stick is ace.
(NB I never remember to do any of this, and also have been living in the poor house recently)

From now on, wash your back really good every 19th of the month, ok?
― StanM (StanM), Friday, 20 October 2006 08:19 (nineteen years ago)
Are you serious?
Is this a pimple on my ELBOW??
― Z S, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:38 (nineteen years ago)
guys just take accutane. it's like agent orange for your face
― river wolf, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:55 (nineteen years ago)
Also, this sounds weird, but if you get an occasional unsightly zit, use a swab or q-tip and put some EYE DROPS (like the stuff that Ben Stein used to do adverts for, red itchy eye shit) on it. gone within 12 hours, never to be seen (even in scar form) again. a dermatologist told me to do that!

my friend had really bad acne, which seemed to get a lot better after she started using sunscreen everyday - apparently it's the zinc. so maybe a zinc supplement?
― Rubyred, Sunday, 10 June 2007 00:52 (nineteen years ago)
Oh my fucking god, from acne.org comments on zinc:
I got some zinc amino chelate about a week ago and ever since ive been taking 50 mgs a day my complexion has been getting better and I haven't broken out.
Did you know when you ejaculate you lose like 5 mgs of zinc, so thats kinda alot when you think about how much zinc your body absorbs without taking a supplement (its usually less than that a day). So you might not want to jerk off like everyday if you have a zinc deficiency.

i found the only thing to stop acne was to stop using anti-spot treatment of any kind. Now if I use facewash within days I'll have acne.

Accutane is seriously awesome. Like, literally--I never thought I would stand in awe of an rx drug. But I do!

I don't think I should take anything that has a side effect of 'suicidal thoughts and tendencies.'
― Abbott, Monday, 1 September 2008 19:53 (seventeen years ago)
Side effects: suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, suicide, depression, psychosis, aggression, violent behaviors, emotional instability
***
The physician should consider whether Accutane therapy is appropriate in this setting; for some patients the risks may outweigh the benefits of Accutane therapy.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

you all the time are plugging that URL, the one that gave me the hint that your EJACULATE SAPS YOUR TRACE MINERALS.
― Abbott, Monday, 1 September 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)
The high concentration of zinc in semen damps down sperm activity, keeping them in a relatively quiescent state. This lowers their consumption of oxygen and conserves sperm energy. Once within the female reproductive tract, which contains very little zinc, zinc concentrations are rapidly diluted. This causes a sudden increase in sperm activity, speeding them up and acting like a mineral turbo charge.

yeah that's pretty much why i never took it. the topical version (can't remember what's called but it's like retin-a) worked fine anyway, after i was on every other acne medication known to man. also they have this government monitoring you have to participate in or something. i was on bcp already but it was like you had to take a pregnancy test or something? like can't i just tell them i'm not pragnent?
― harbl, Monday, 1 September 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)
The best thing about accutane is the pills are in one of those pop-out blister packs, like cold medicine is in. But covering every single pill is this little cardboard oval you have to pull off to get to the pill. On it is a silhouette of a pregnant woman with a big red NO symbol over it.
My brother took it years ago and every morning I'd laugh and say "No pregnant women allowed!" I tried to collect them to tape them on things, but he got really angry when I tried to. I think he was embarrassed about the whole thing.

Accutane is SCARY, I'd only take it if my acne were really terrible. In fact, like everyone as a youngster I got pimples, never had really bad acne. Of course as a mature adult I haven't had a zit in, like, fifteen years.
― Mount Cleaners, Friday, 1 July 2011 09:28 (fourteen years ago)
accutane (which, here, was ro-accutane, in case that's a significant distinction) really kind of saved my life, & is still the best decision i ever made, i think. like i would hesitate to recommend it to others without a thousand caveats, on account of having been at the manageable end of the crazy-side-effects pool, and i know that it can be really brutal, but i am still in awe of drug science whenever i look in the mirror, sorta like-

i will also rep hard for avoiding sugar(s) & the dermo-kryptonite that is orange juice, but i know there's a little less evidence on the efficacy of those things.
― devoted to boats (schlump), Friday, 1 July 2011 09:42 (fourteen years ago)
ahh roaccutane, i had lots of weird side effects, the stuff does work though
my allergies went real bad shortly after i'd finished taking it, some things send me into anaphylactic shock. this is a real bummer. had v dry skin/lips/itchy eyes (still do 5 years later).
friend of mine who was also on it went kind of crazy. super aggressive, started boxing and taking speed :-/

tea tree oil
― z (a you), Friday, 1 July 2011 19:26 (fourteen years ago)
Can you believe I finally got a gigantic ZIT? I got it at the doctor when having minor surgery. I think it was an allergic reaction to something.
I put some ice on it and it helped numb and shrink it. But it is huge and itchy!! I'm too old for Oxy-10!!
Some people have severe allergies to tea tree oil. It made me break out terribly.
