Certainly happened to me more than once, though happily not all the time! Once I recall it was a fellow Suede fan who lived near me -- I forget the exact details of the squabble, but somehow things improved from there, and we're still good friends! I think there's definitely something, a certain charge, in responding to someone else who is intelligent, possessed of a strong point of view, etc. -- and who then turns out to be perfectly charming. :-)

She accused me of stealing a bottle of tequila from her room during a party, I put on Nick Drake and all was good from there. He sort of calmed her down. I did take the tequila though....

I met one of my best friends in a fight, albeit kind of a fake one. He was working at a record store, and we got into a playful kind of fight about David Bowie. He invited me to a party at his house later that week, and we've been best buddies ever since.
