Yes. I was walking to the tube from work.

RickyT, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is this a game?

Ok... was... JEL in PERIVALE yesterday? I walked home in a bit of a trance, but it suddenly occured to me that's where he might be.

I'm pretty damn sure I saw Ned and Dan in Ealing Library! But I was walking around in a trance, but it did suddenly occur to me.

i thought it was you! i didn't know you worked in belsize park...

gareth, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

More Gospel Oak/South End then Belsize Park, but I sometimes use the tube station there if I'm going into town and the 24 looks like it's never going to turn up.

RickyT, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And... was unknownorillegaluser in Mile End?! I wasn't really looking but on second thorts the resemblence was uncanny...

Sarah, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the 24 is a truly terrible bus. often the bus driver can not be bothered to stop. you must be working just around the corner from k- reg/nick.k then...

gareth, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

and ed, come to think of it...

gareth, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Perivale! I love that name.

Dan Peri, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

stop it.

Alan T, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I just saw... in Shepherd's Bush.

jel --, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can just see Dan getting the central line all the way out to Perivale just so he can hear the auto announcer thing say "This... is... Perivale... Change here for traumatic childhood memories and giant man cat maulings of hopeless comedy duos"

On a family trip to London I made my father take the whole family out to a Doctor Who museum he had found on a previous business trip (he'd asked an associate where he could buy paraphenalia). I don't remember where it was, but it was someplace far away from central London that was seedy and gross. It had also gone out of business. My mother wasn't pleased with either of us.

On a later trip, I tried to make our college tour bus detour en route to Cambridge so that I could visit Crawley (Robert Smith's birthplace).

blimey dan, it wasn't THE WHO SHOP in Barking, was it? not a museum but definitely the largest collection of Dr Who stuff for sale that i have ever seen, and VERY definitely in a seedy and gross location...

katie, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You know, I think that was it. At any rate, by the summer of 1989 it was gone.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't go to perivale! it's just one big industrial estate!

jel --, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But that means Dan can take it over and launch his empire of the Very Bad Meng.

I have not been to Ealing. To my knowledge.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The 24 is the funniest smelling bus I know. Smells of dried muddy grass.

Pete, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I noticed that too. It's also got a very high proportion of street drinkers on it, presumably cos it terminates at their musical gathering point on South End Green.

Handy for the Royal Free Hospital though where I have spent a disproportionate amount of time over the last year. I also miss the ABC Hampstead.

Haha the Who Shop is not in Barking but in East Ham, a few hundred yards from my home. (It is opposite East Ham tube, if anyone wants to find it.) Katie is not being unfair to it anyway. And I'm moving soon too.
