Mums I guess. I like my dad and it's not as though there's even the slightest bit of ill will but I see my mum more and thus know her a bit better. My moments of affinity with either aren't really frequent to be honest, I'm probably closer to my older brother really. I suppose this is a little sad but it's just always been the way.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

doorag it is so not apples and oranges - the question has more implications than that - do boys feel closer to there mothers than girls - does this role change over time - do we move away from our parents towards our friends or like ronan say's to our siblings

jesus u r a very grumpy man

RJG, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why am I finding 'grumpy jesus hee-hee' so good? I'm just staring at it going 'grumpy jesus hee-hee'.

N., Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well i suppose he must have been occasionally - 12 disciples messin about - not always towing the jesus line - or calling his bluff on some of his "tall" parables as it were

born clippy, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"blind was he" "risen from the dead, you dont say" "how many fishes was that again jesus" "chinny" "oooh peter i've got an itchy beard, have you?"

In terms of sensibilities, sense of humor and more, I'm much more my mom's kid than my dad's, but it's not like there's really a radical difference to be honest. Usually I talk more with my mom in general, though!

See self-esteem thread for why I don't like my mother. My father died twenty years ago, and played very little part in my life - he worked hard and provided and everything, and was basically a nice man I think, so my vote is for dads.

Martin Skidmore, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like my dad better.

toraneko, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I very rarely talk with my dad, but there's still a very definite understanding that's slightly deeper than the rather conversation- based bond with my mother. I can be quite taciturn at times, and my dad is very much a non-talker. I'm a boy of contradictions, and my parent's are very different people (even though they've been married nearly 40 years), so I do honestly find different things in both of them, and to choose would be impossible.

I had thought I would choose my mum rather than my dad because she seems to take my side in arguments more often or give me a bit more lee-way. but, thinking about it, perhaps my dad only does what he does for BALANCING. man, they both love me. I don't talk much to either of them about things that happen. as for my brother, he and I are quite different. people are often surprised to find we ARE brothers. we ARE brothers. I'm not sure I'd like him much if he weren't my brother. awful to say, but. I do like him. even though I cannot see where a lot of his personality traits originated. we get on a lot better now that he lives a few hundred miles away. again, I don't tell him many things. maybe I don't tell anyone many things.
