I was just sitting in my garden in the early Friday evening English summer sunshine, gin and tonic in hand, nattering with a friend........

Suddenly the RED ARROWS (the Royal Air Force aerobatic display team) flew over my house! All nine aeroplanes, in perfect arrowhead formation, so low they nearly knocked the flipping chimney pots off my roof!!

They did a full circuit above my village, complete with a trail of coloured smoke and a barrel roll - then disappeared westwards (presumably on their way to a proper air display somewhere).

It was fantastic, and v unexpected. This has made me very happy indeed.

Haha I used to work almost next door to the Red Arrows' base so got thoroughly sick of the bastards. Not much has made me happy this week because it has been really horrifically busy and desperate at work and I have got bugger all useful done towards any projects. Then again, I am a shallow oerson, so I will now get an ice lolly and that will do the job.

They once flew over an ostrich farm near my house and all the ostriches (who were stood on concrete at the time) knocked themselves unconscious trying to bury their heads. This amused me greatly.

i got the interweb back in my room, by switching to an old laptop while my desktop is fuX0r. finally i can listen to all the pop singles i want, and am contemplating writing a piece for FT this weekend (which is cheaper than actually doing anything else).

The ostriches above made me crack up! There was an ostrich farm that I used to bike out to in Massachussetts, and they were always pretty funny looking just standing there, so I can only imagine spazzed out otriches are even better.
I just got a haircut- it's hard not be happy when your hair looks nice for a day right after it's been cut.
