Tranformer ver. 2002, classic or dud?

I say classic, though it seems wrong that Megatron is no longer a size changing robot/pistol transformer, and is instead now arbitrarily a two headed dragon.

But I heard that soon he will be tank. Thats not bad.

But anywayt, it's far superior to the 80's show. It has sweat drop manga comedy, and a flying shark robot who slowly moves through the city while singing to himself. Talk about wacky!

I love it!!!!!!!

Haven't seen the Robot in Disguise cartoon yet. Armada looks like it could be good, with these weird mini-con transformers, that the big robots use to get extra power. The new comics aren't much cop though, pretty pictures and basic stories, not a patch on the Simon Furman issues of the original series.

I guess I'll have to wait for the video release or get digital TV, it's on fox kids at 6:35am on Sunday mornings (i think):(

Oh, and 2 weeks to convention! yay! must get tickets!

Also, on the Hasbro website if you click on toys for children aged 18 and over, Transformers is listed. It looks as though marketers are well aware of the kidult phenomenom.

If I ever write another dissertation it will be the follow up to my first of advertising toys to children...this time it will be the advertising of children's toys for adult collectors.

I saw it and it revolted me. I so preferred its '80s incarnation. This modern version = manowar and lives in fag0tville.

i was always saddened when I played with Starscream to think of how unposeable he was compared to my G I Joes, and how it was not fair of them to show themin the cartoom so bendy .

I'll bet though, that if both the eighties version and the new version came out at the same time, you would have like them both more than go-bots.

I just think that coming off of beast wars, robots in disgues is a welcome change. No series, bleak, drama. Just tranforming fun.

I just bought armada. The plot is weird, seems like a comercial for future toys that attach to "Mini-cons". But of course, the art was good.

The starscream toy is a total mistake. Plastic hands that attach jointless arms? Unposable legs? There is simply no excuse for this in an action fugure. More like and action statue of shit.............

Ratchet SUCKED so badly! I thought Starscream was cool, though, even with his non-bendy arms.

Waht was with Ratchets head?

Chief White lotus, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

He didn't have one! (They gave him one in the cartoon, though; I guess they thought headless robots would scare the kids.)

using a white optimus prime toy as ultra magnus' cab was a pretty low blow also. did they think we wouldn't notice? or were they just trying to fuck with us?

Bob Zemko, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I always used the ultra magnus cab as the ghost of optimus prime, coz he was always dying in the cartoons and the the comics!

and don't forget that the decepticon jets were all the same mould as were Sidewsipe/red alert and prowl/blue streak and grapple/inferno and Trailbreaker/Hoist. K-blimey I was a mug as a kid!
