I've only seen Sterling Clover say it, are there others? How exactly did it start up?

A classic 'lost in the mists of time' thing to an extent, but I've always assumed it was something from the books of MOLESWORTH, which has contributed much in the way of GRATE slang to ILX. Please refer to the Sunday July 16 2000 entry here from the inestimable I Hate Music where a Molesworth parody is used against the Cocteau Twins in such a manner as to suggest the breeding grounds for FITES!

No Sarah does not = Tanya. Sarah is a happy bundle of fun while Tanya is a bitter and twisted old harridan who has in my opinion had far too much gin for her own good. When she had that period in hospital last year I definately remember Tanya topping her drip up with a G&T.

No this didn't start from Molesworth (he may haf used it but I can't recall it off the top of my head... maybe, but it's not the Molesworth variant that I use at any rate) - it just came into my head when posting "me vs GURLS: FITE" and since then it haf passed into ILx canon, innit.

You'll be giving people the impression that the hil...arious ILE in- jokes happen spontaneously! I should explain to the infrequent posters and lurkers, that there is a vote on this every once in a while. Which reminds me! We haven't had a vote for weeks, so vote now for:

A - BUT PAM AYRES WAS A SPY! (to be used as a retort to claims of sexualism)
B - adding "in bed" to the end of most sentences
C - posting images of a baby's head
