I've been experiencing a really strange mental activity recently. Basically, I'll be sitting on a tram or train or something, or even walking somewhere, and I'll think about one of the many projects that I keep on the boil (all in a state of pitiful neglect), and I start thinking "yeah, I'm going to write a beautiful bit of code there," or "I've written this beautiful tune." Always 'beautiful' this, 'beautiful' that. It's like I'm trying to convince myself that I'm going to do something beautiful or something. I sometimes find myself thinking it really, really often within a short period of time.

Am I going insane?

andrew, I do this too, but I don't have a word for the thing that I think of the projects. they're really ace though let me tell you what.

at the gym the other day four women were having a conversation across four efx machines. a mother and daughter and a very loud woman next to me and her sister-in-law. apparently, the daughter is a new student at uci and i thought of the novel i'd like to write but never will, a scene of which would be about the day of moving into dorms, the anxious mother speaking for her daughter and how all that in a year's time would change...

i've also thought about how i would redo my tic tac toe programming assignment so that when it was finished, it would not only stop crashing but be even more compact than the solution the professor posted on the course web page... but that hasn't got very far.

Tic Tac Toe is such a flawed game, I can't believe that's on a comp sci syllabus!
