because I always remember "Loungin'" and "Hey Lover" as being a nadir of weak, watery rap-R&B crossover of the time, the equivalent of "Down 4 U" (Murda Stink, hah). There's a lot worse right now than "Luv U Better".

Cool J was the first rap artist to perform at a Farm Aid concert, was he not? Seems odd that it wasn't Hammer.

i dunno. i shouldn't like this as much as i do. slicker than the avg. Neptunes production, what with the generic r&b vocals and all, but the beat does have this great smoove ambience, perfectly interrupted by that abrupt little squiqqle, and LL's flow's changed a lot over the years but it's still just so natural and almost conversational. a little cheesy, but what can i say, i love me a love song.
