Their (new) first album is amazing. Krauty, violent, dreamy, highly rhythmic. My sweet spot.

P sure only ilx is the only place you'll find "fans of Prolapse" these days

Deflatormouse, Saturday, 10 July 2021 03:12 (four years ago)

Well, a logical posting then.

Mogwai have great titles but their music is so dull. Usually bad titles = bad music, but not in this case. One can just listen to Glenn Branca or even Bark Psychosis.

On an unrelated note, this is a bit like 'liquid funk' the best genre name in the world, quickly became one of the most white studenty offshoots of drum n bass.

RobbiePires, Saturday, 10 July 2021 10:35 (four years ago)

sir this is an Arby's

I really like this a lot

I can see the Mogwai thing but this feels different, has a unique feel. They seem to go for hypnotic repetition and not the grand gestures of Mogwai

Sometimes feels like a post metal Slint or something, or a funkier Shellac

Love the drumming

This is the Raime side project, right? I didn't know they had an album, excited to hear this.

My first thought was The For Carnation - a similar sense of control and creeping dread. Will definitely give it another go. Didn't realise it had a Raime connection but that makes total sense.

not familiar with Raime will have to check them out

like I really fucking love this, goddamn

For Carnation is a good call

the first Raime album and early EPs are stunning, their other stuff is hard for me to get into but definitely interesting

I love Prolapse, but find Mogwai mostly boring. Will give this a go anyway

Sounding great, wish I could see them.

The Moin-adjacent Olan Monk has a new record coming that sounds good: https://olanmonk.bandcamp.com/album/songs-for-nothing

Position Position, Thursday, 30 October 2025 16:36 (seven months ago)

this is killer, love how they transform the songs in a live setting

at making time they opened with this incredible version of "c'mon dive" where it just kept building and building in intensity but didn't quite resolve, it was so good
