Electrolife: Pop for the Electro Age

2002 has been a very good year for electropop, but this Cinq Etoiles compilation is the only thing to consider buying at the moment. Some of the usual suspects (we've heard those Felix and Golden Boy tunes by now) but there's not a single song that is not a future classic:

1. Les Rythmes Digitales - Hypnotise
2. Karl Bartos - 15 Minutes Of Fame
3. Golden Boy with Miss Kittin - 1234
4. The Droyds - Girls On Pills (yes, the Duran Duran song!)
5. Felix da Housecat ft. Miss Kittin - Silver screen shower scene (FC/Kahuna Remix)
6. Sergej Auto - Musik, OK!
7. Peaches - Set it off (Tobi Neumann mix)
8. FC/Kahuna - Nothing is wrong
9. Little Computer People - Little Computer People (Video remix)
10. Dot Allison - Substance (Felix da Housecat remix)
11. Electromen - Chatroom Romance
12. Adult. - Skinlike (Equation Mix)
13. Gifted - Inferior Technology
14. Ivana F - Wanna Be Superstar
15. Sven Väth ft. Miss Kittin - Je t'Aime...Moi Non Plus

The Ivana F track is probably THE tune of the year. Is this an I-F production? It sounds like "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" with Blondie on vocals!

Karl Bartos - 15 Minutes Of Fame

I'd be terribly amused if that was a cover of the Sheep on Drugs song.

how many copies of that Felix remix of "Substance" do you need? perhaps you could burn me a copy w/out that track on it? ;-)

Actually, that Karl Bartos tune sounds so much like vintage New Order (bar the dodgy German accent) it's eerie.

Shame it does not include the Les Rythmes Digitales mix of We In Music's 'Now That The Love Has Gone' (as featured on Excursions 04 mix by his Imperial Housekatt Lord Felix of Thee Metropolis) - that track is the main thing cheering me up right now in my day of sneezy remorse

Les Rythmes Digitales mix of We In Music's 'Now That The Love Has Gone'

It's a nice remix, but to be honest it can't touch the original...
