"If God came down on X-mas day, I know exactly what he'd say. He'd say 'Oi to the Punx' and 'Oi to the Skinz' and Oi to the world, and everybody wins!"

This makes me want to kill, Kill, KILL!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

You have a few anger "issues," huh?

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

This was a Vandals song originally.

Jonathan Williams (ex machina), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Zat a fact? Wow.....which Vandals? Stevo era or post-Stevo?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:19 (twenty-three years ago)

post-Stevo.

Jonathan Williams (ex machina), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, no wonder it sucks then!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:31 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not so bad. It's a little weird that it's in rotation, though, considering it was recorded eight million years ago.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 9 December 2002 19:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Indeed. This came out post-_Tragic Kingdom_ on some wacky alt.xmas compilation, which was a waaaaaaaaaaaaay long time ago.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Its got stiff competion from Jingle Cats.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:02 (twenty-three years ago)

And the worst X-Mas single EVAH is clearly "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time". Worst EVAH.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Ya might be right on that one, David.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:05 (twenty-three years ago)

This is so OBVIOUSLY old-No Doubt!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Old? New? Whatever -- it's still SHITE!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex, do you live in some sort of vague hellish place where you're made to listen to everything you hate? I mean, you complain an awful lot about stuff that is truly awful, but why expose yourself to it in the first place?

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not a complaint so much as an observation. Because my eyes and ears happen to function in a manner that is more or less normal, I do tend to see and hear things that, from time to time, I think are woefully sub-par. When these instances occur, I am motivated to make note of it. What you may fail to realize, hstencil, is that I don't fear anger. I *ENJOY* getting angry about stuff. I *ENJOY* the hatred that crap like Eve and Papa Roach and TRL and "Oi to the World" so seamlessly conjures. I'm not going to sequester myself in a cave somewhere in fear that if I dare pay even scant attention to mainstream media, I'm bound to see something that I don't happen to like. Whatever --- bring'em on. Set'em up and I'll fuckin' knock'em down.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't fear anger, either. I'd just rather get angry about things besides how bad some pop music is. I mean, who cares?

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 20:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Who says I don't? Remember -- this is a music board, not a general interest board.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, I guess what I'm saying is, like why bother? In your life, not just on this board?

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 20:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I think you're reading too deeply into my posts, hstencil. Take a step back and realize this is all just trivial music discussion. That said, I'm pretty passionate about music ....and when I see bullshit music (like teen pop, r'n'b, etc.) gaining so much undeserved press and kudos, it makes me mad. But, does it keep me awake at night? No. Moreover, you should never let your day be ruined by something you see on a silly music discussion board.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:37 (twenty-three years ago)

How do you "see bullshit music?" Oh yeah, MTV, I forgot.

My day isn't ruined, and I don't assume that this keeps you awake at night, but I feel like, with a few exceptions, it makes more sense to communicate about what you like rather than what you hate. That seems to be a better way to counter undeserved press and kudos, because most people I know pay more attention to word-of-mouth type things (like, uh, music discussion groups, even if they're chockablock full of music critics) than the music press.

Aside from Killing Joke, that is. We all know you love 'em, no need to run it into the ground or anything. ; )

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 20:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I will vengefully exhort the name "KILLING JOKE" from the highest peaks until you Ja Rule-worshipping infidels pound your fists into bloody pulps on the ground in abject self-loathing.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Can we just pretend the 250+ "R&B is/isn't bullshit music" thread has already happened and move on?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:47 (twenty-three years ago)

But I don't like Ja Rule.

Did somebody from No Limit Records design that Killing Joke thingy? Are they Master P's proteges now?

hstencil, Monday, 9 December 2002 20:50 (twenty-three years ago)

that pic is awe-inspiring

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

This threadz fun. Alex from NYC, you write good post. Continue on...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Monday, 9 December 2002 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Killing Joke on No Limit? Someone I just can't picture Jaz singing....

"A Love Like Blod.....UNNNNGGHHH!"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

SomeHOW

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahahaha that'd be the greatest thing ever. The Ja Rule / J-Lo cover of Wardance would be equally great.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex in NYC kicks ass

so does digestive bile

no (the stain), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, so it's funny 'cause I actually heard this song yesterday while in the H&M in Soho (waiting for the ladyfriend to finish shopping), and yeah, it's pretty bad. Then again, it seemed to get the employees all riled up and happy, so maybe that's a good thing.
