B-b-b-b-b-ut Hip Hop lyrics *ARE* stupid! Regardless of po-faced Petty's other crimes (most notably his dull-as-dishwater music), he's completley right on this point. If the shoe fits....kick someone with it.

Give me any example of a dumb hip-hop lyric, Alex, and I'll give you a dumb one from rock. Give me any example of a smart rock lyric and I can give you another smart one from hip-hop. I'm not denying that there are dumb lyrics in hip-hop but blanket statements about anything are generally not particularly helpful.
