good poll. they are all good imo.

you & me and lisbon are the ones that have stuck with me the most

“you & me” has been my pick for years now, but having just listened to bows + arrows yesterday for the first time in a while, waiting for what I was sure I remembered as one or two skips — no it’s actually all killer

i feel like hamilton became a better singer in later albums, and the band better at cultivating an invitingly sparse atmosphere, but then again i haven't listened to bows + arrows in a while

For sheer number of bangers the first two remain all-timers for me. A while back I realized I rally hadn’t paid any attention to them since A Hundred Miles Off and did a Spotify deep dive. I was kind of shocked at how strong Lisbon and Heaven are. You & Me def has some good stuff too. I still think Hundred Miles is their weakest (not really factoring Pussycats here).

Anyway, my vote is for the first one, which I still bust out once or twice a year. Fantastic album

A Hundred Miles Off is the first one of theirs that I fully fell for, so I've gotta go with that one.

I prefer "bows + arrows" to "everyone". think there are much better hooks on the former and as voodoo alludes to, better vocals

the first one is so impressionistic and otherworldly and.. out there..

how can one little man make such a big drum sound

let’s use this energy to argue that they were the best band of this scene/era

compelled to vote for B+A. big hits no filler. had to listen back through them to be sure. Y&E def as good as the to that followed. Hundred Miles still prob my least preferred but even it has Another One Goes By & Louisiana which are top tier WM songs imo

The debut by quite a long way. I do like You & Me and Lisbon a decent amount too, but that debut still sounds so fresh and is always the one I go for.

It's always a toss up between Bows+Arrows and You and Me (The former currently has the advantage). Love them... And they were always a blast live!
