modern-day recreations of golden-era reggae

Can you give me some suggestions for a playlist of new(ish) music that embraces, celebrates the dusty sound of early reggae? I'm thinking of Pachyman, (some) Holy Cook and, today's discovery for me, The Coolmods from Argentina.

That's a good question, who are the Jack Whites of modern reggae, who only record/mix with Pioneer SR101 tube reverbs or whatever it was that King Tubby used.

Someone posted this Roots Architects record on another thread last year:

Crossover with my fake dub thread, but I think that Dub Will Tear Us Apart record and some of the Holy Tongue records are properly dirty.

The Frightenrs were a Daptone band who put out a really good rocksteady album just after their lead singer died of ALS in 2016

Also, since the Daptone thing has been brought up already, here's the late Sugar Minott covering Aretha's One Step Ahead, from a Daptone comp.

I just spent the last half hour trying to remember Hollie Cook's name, finally found her, then realized that she was mentioned in the OP. Nevertheless, Shy Girl really captivated me last year:

Thanks for all the selections so far. The one I'm really loving is the Courtney John one, exactly the sort of thing I had in mind.

More daptone, which I heard quite by coincidence this morning. A bit later than the era I had in mind but this is gorgeous: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMxbUmRg7IM
