I don't know anything about the place.

I really doubt it. There is probably a good jazz record store some place, but you'll be happier if you switch your obsession to barbacue.

There's the Blue Note in Columbia and a smattering of decent record shops and clubs in St. Lou (where I'm from, as is my main man Nelly). If you're just moving into the midwest, be prepared to see every band skip your town. But hey, it gives you something to bitch about with your friends.

Lawrence, Kansas, which is 20 miles west of KC, has almost every indie band go through on tour.

It has some great venues including The Bottleneck, Liberty Hall, and the Granada.

I don't know about the local music scene or anything, but I'm underwhelmed by the record stores I've visited there. I supopose one of them had the largest collection of used records I've ever seen, which was nice.. beyond that, nothing impressed me much.

hell yes those places are good. i'd skip fiorella jack stack for cheaper bbq though: oklahoma joes, arthur bryants, gates. Other favorite places (more bar-like): westside local, swagger.
