Birthday songs

I'm making a tape for a friend's 30th birthday. What are some birthday songs? Two beautiful, stirring songs are the Sugarcubes "Birthday" and (would you believe it) the Fall's "Birthday Song". Anyone think of others in this vein? Or any vein?

Sorry if there's already a thread on this subject, I'm having problems searching.

Also, what's your favorite version of the ur-birthday song, "Happy Birthday to You"?

every birthday i must listen to birthday by blur. best "i'm miserable, everybody hates me, nobody loves me, they've forgotten my birthday so i'll just sit in this park until i go down the pub and discover that everyone really loves me in the end" song ever.

Bambi Slam did a good birthday song.

I love Concrete Blonde's "Happy Birthday" (not the traditional, but their own composition). I think Cracker does a good one too.

ho-hoo -- The Beatles, "Birthday"

Cracker's "Happy Birthday to Me" is a damn fine b-day song.

Bart & 'Michael Jackson' singing "Lisa It's Your Birthday" also pops to mind, which was actually a very good song in my humble opinion.

"Happy Birthday" by The Birthday Party is one of my favorites by the group.

I'd like to get a samurai sword myself, it would be a wonderful suprise.

I forget the name of the song right now... but every time I'd DJ a house party and someone wanted to hear a birthday song for their friend we'd play that Luke Skywalker / 2 Live Crew track that goes "Go it's your birthday! It's your birthday! It's your birthday!"

It's a horrible song, but it's a right kick in the ass for all those self-absorbed people who think you really want to play a song for them for their birthday.

For people you don't really like, you can't really beat "The Birthday Song" by the Dik Van Dykes:

So I hear it's your birthday
Who gives a shit?
Do you feel older?
You certainly LOOK it.
Did you get lots of presents?
A pinch to grow an inch?
Did you phone your Grandma
And thank her...for the GIFT?
Well you can have your cake
And you can eat it too
I hope it's fake
And you live in a zoo
And you look a monkey
And you are one too!
Was anybody important born today
Or just you?
When you were born
The doctor slapped your mother!
On the day you were born
They invented the pill!
Did you get a Get Well card
From your sister or brother?
So I hear it's your birthday
Well, big fuckin' deal!
(repeat)

Shit yeah, Kate you beat me to it!

Also, The Smiths' "Unhappy Birthday" for pathos and Altered Images' "Happy Birthday" for bouncy funstuff.
