I've not seen these songs mentioned on ILM yet so I thought I'd lump them together.
Sparks - 'Ugly Guys with Beautiful Girls'
I d/ld this from Alexfack last week, apparently its the new Sparks song. It's pretty top, all jutting orchestral slashes with Mael ruminating about why ugly guys have beautiful girlfriends. Is it from a new album or is it a one-off single?
Samantha Mumba - 'I'm right here'
I loved this from the moment I saw her on TOTP, looking cute as fuck and seeming as if she was really enjoying it, and *knowing* it was a great song. I'm into all the 'all the single men in the room... put your hands in the air', I'm a sucker for songs that address the audience and issue commands. And there's the great climax bit which brings the dodgy rap segment in, sure his flow is wank but the sound that brings him in kills me. I thought, like most pop, that I'd be bored if it after a couple of weeks but I'm loving it more and more. Anyone else like this song as much as I do? All the other Mumba I've heard has been slushy ballads so I'm hoping she's taking a new direction.
Pharoah Monche - 'Fuck you'
I've not seen a thread on this guy yet but this song is class. What's the ILM consensus on him?
Pitman - Ya get me (DJ Spoonjuice mix)
Remix using the Gilles Peterson radio 1 skit and the music to that kak Puff Diddy song, as mentioned by Passantino on a previous thread. It's not the usual Pitman - weird echo on the vocals, some of his jibes have been fucked with and sound a bit daft - but I'm into it. It's in my ILM folder on Ssk if anyone fancies it.

Sparks song is from the new album. It's actually a bit atypical in that it's the only song on the album that 'rocks,' conventionally speaking...

It ROCKS so hard, except in the quiet thoughtful bits but not to worry because then it ROCKS again. I can't find this new Sparks album on Ssk but I'm on a promise from Alexfack. You like it, Ned?

Very much so. Then again, I run their mailing list. ;-)
