What's that SK - "Rock Lobster" song?
It's a live cover of the B-52s song.

I've been having fun downloading pop songs from when I was a kid:
En Vogue- Giving Him Something He Can Feel (i don't usually listen to pop music but this is a great song) and Free Your Mind
Madonna- Material Girl
Janet Jackson- Anytime, Anyplace
Was Not Was- Walk the Dinosaur (My god this song transports me back to the 80s like nothing else)

BTW.. I should say that GABBA/AMP is looking for new hosting. It'll be back in a week or two.

nick.K (nick.K), Thursday, 12 December 2002 08:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Let's cheat a little : here's the last five tracks I have downloaded and not immediately erased :

-I'm sorry Eminem by Carl (thanks a lot to Gabba for this one, and, Nick, I really hope you'll find a new host pretty quickly, I guess Gabba is just like a nice little addiction for me (and many others I suppose...))

-Western Airlines by Domotic. I can't believe I missed it when it was released last april. Amazing french electronic band that you'll have to love if you have any interest in stuff like M83 or Isan.

-Family Portrait by Pink. Is this one of the best singles of the year? Of course it is...

-Crustation by Purple (Air remix). A beautiful remix by Air, one of their early works, just after the first EP. Just like Royksopp or LRD, I've always enjoyed more the remixes they did for others than their more personnal work... Is there a reason for that ?

-Rito Finale (from Citta Violenta) by Ennio Morricone. He released 17 differents OSTs the same year... Something like 7 hours and a half of original material released in 1970 (and mostly pretty good quality stuff).

Is the other stuff good?

By the way Siegbran did you see the thread I started about this Agoria track called, 11ieme Marche (Rollercoaster Mix). It's one of the best tunes I've heard in ages.

Flaming Lips - Do You Realise? --> Quite nice I suppose.
White Stripes - Dead Leaves On The Dirty Groun --> Rawk awn.
The Kills - Cat Claws --> I guess they must be good live or something...
Martin Grech - Dali --> It's entirely possible for very young people to make incredible music. This guy is not one of them. Soft-rock Aphex Twin.
Leaves - Catch --> See: Kent.

Callum (Callum), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

callum heart nu rock shockah

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Is the other stuff good?

Yes, but I'm not sure if you'd like it. The stuff they did with Tomaz is all tribal techno: "Sunshine" (the Jaguar soundalike tune), "Los Hijos Del Sol", etc. Some stuff is more energetic, like that Oliver Lieb remix on my yearmix and the remix of QED "Hardly A Day". But most of their tunes and remixes tend to be on the progressive side of things: low-key, repetitive, steady grooves, occasional echoed vocal snippets - still with those cool tribal drumloops but no musical fireworks if you know what I mean. Although I tend to avoid progressive like the plague, these Filterheadz tunes are absolutely brilliant on headphones at work. I'd recommend the remixes of Green Velvet "La La Land" and Minimalistix "A Forest" to see if you like it, and then proceed from there. I've got about twenty remixes now, and apart from Robbie Rivera "Sex" no duds yet!

By the way Siegbran did you see the thread I started about this Agoria track called, 11ieme Marche (Rollercoaster Mix). It's one of the best tunes I've heard in ages.

It's on my wishlist, but so far no succes...
