this is so utterly classic, at the gig they show this as an interlude on a huge screen and everyone was laughing and applauding...or maybe just me, Matt DC and the Skinner clone in front of me were, heh - but its really fucking cool all the same

Is this NOW!'s version of the Housemartins' "Happy Hour?"

Skinner = My New Hero

And let me say how much I LOVE this song, and pretty much ALL his songs for that matter. Stevem's answer #2 is SOOO OTM it belongs in the OTM thread.

during the amsterdam gig the blokes next to me - who annoyingly spent most of the gag chatting - suddenly went quiet when the band walked off stage and this got played. brilliant.

um, what's so grebt about it? It's just a faithful visual enactment of the song (plus a bit of digital manipulation of Skinner's face, but nobody's so far mentioned that as key).

What's more funny about it than the song is on it's own?

Similarly, re "Skinner is a fine actor" - yes, but the record told me that.

its a reward, a reward for visualising something in your head and then seeing it realised before you just as you imagined...there's something very satisfying about that actually - but the video also re-inforces the track as a statement (no it doesnt NEED it but its a lovely compliment/enhancement) as all good videos do, i think

unlike many people here i value videos as much as the tracks they accompany, sometimes more so - that may explain my enthusiasm for this work also

plus video AND song together is usually funnier than video OR song on the whole i'd say

example: "Prince couldnt get me change my name pa pah" in 'Work It' is quite funny on its own but when you see the video and the Prince lookalike doing his thang on MIssy its a lot funnier
